LittleBigPlanet 3 is my most disappointing game of 2014

LittleBigPlanet 3 is by far one of the, no, THE most disappointing game of the franchise. Some may be wondering, "How can they ever make a disappointing LittleBigPlanet game?" believe me, I have asked the same thing. The game is fun, and the create mode is so improved it makes your creations almost limitless. So, with this said, LBP3 sounds like the perfect game for the fans, correct?

Wrong, the game not only has countless framerate drops and glitches (worse than AC Unity, which was apparently so bad that fans rated it a 1/10, I disagree however, but thats not the point) that it makes the game unplayable, it also throws away everything that made the game personally loveable.

The first thing I did when entering my pod was to import all my data from the previous games. But then I notice that there is no option to import VITA content. Out of all of the LBP titles, LBPVita is the one game where I spent most of my hours playing create mode. Considering how much time I put into my VITA creating levels while out of my house, you would imagine that I had alot of creations waiting to be published and shared for all to see. But the only problem was that none of my friends owned a VITA, so they were not able to see any of the levels I published. When I heard the developers explain how LBP3 will support VITA conten, I was obviously excited with bliss. I then waited, only to find out that it was all a big lie. At first I was furious, but then I just ignored that fact(hoping there will soon be an update) and tried to enjoy my experience by importing my LBP1&2 content. However, my anticipation only turned into pure rage when I found out that all of my outfits were removed(after waiting for the 10-20 minute transfer), as well as the DLC items that I paid my money on. After discovering this, I eventually lost the will to even play through the story mode. So I went to the community section.

In the previous LBP games, instead of searching up costumes or items to steal off other players from the community, I would either play user-created levels for creative ideas, or just have fun. But one of the main aspects that made the LBP community wonderful was the ability to DIVE-IN and make new friends while messing around in create mode or community levels. But then I realized that the DIVE-IN feature was completely removed from the game. Seriously? Why would you remove the only thing that made meeting new players possible? I find it very hard to believe that removing such a feature adds more "fun" to the overall game.

So I then went to create mode to test out all the new tools, and possibly make a level for myself, but realized that doing so was impossible when ALL the relevant tools were restricted from my possession(forcing me to have to play through all the tutorials of things I already know). So now all I could do is place random layers and sackbots without using any logic whatsoever, but this makes the create mode useless. To make matters worse, the create mode is very slow due to the game's horrendous framerate and 5 second freeze when you open your popit. These issues even caused my game to crash a couple of times after placing ONE sackbot(I play this on PS4). I eventually gave up and decided to quit the game after finding out how horrible it was.

But apparently there is a way to turn on "advanced create" without having to play all tutorials, but I have yet to find out how to do so. If anyone would take the time to inform me, I would be very much obliged. At least I will have something do even if the game is very slow. Until then, this game is completely dead to me. I never thought I could ever be so heartbrokenly disappointied from a LBP title.

- Watch Dogs was disappointing, but managed to get me playing through the game while having fun.

- Destiny, made by the creators of my favorite game series(Halo) ever since I was 4, turned out to be a disappointing grind-fest. But at least it had fun gameplay.

- Assassin's Creed Unity just had bugs but apparently everyone thought it was worse than Liberation. Although the story was short and disappointing, gameplay within combat(which is more challenging) and navigation was the most fun I've had out of the series.

- And now LittleBigPlanet 3, a game that I thought could never be disappointing(well, it is LBP, how can such a simple but creative game ever be bad?) turned out to be the most disappointing game I played this year, as it lacks the simple aspects that made the past games enjoyable.

If there are no updates for this game, for AT LEAST the popit freezes and VITA support, then this game is already dead to me.

Advanced create is very easy to turn on, it literally asks you the first time you enter create mode, or you can find it in the settings menu.

Iv havent played the game yet but hearing about all these bugs in stuff really wants me to see it, and whats the point of complaining about the game? yes its brand new with whole lots of issues, its just because the new Owners of LBP are trying to fix it. maby they did do a bug test and they didnt find anything but it happend to us. this game is really attented to be for the ps4 so all this stuff isnt supose to happend.

you really dont need to complane about the issues about this when Sumo Digital is acturly makeing a new patch to fix all the bugs thats happening. but if this cant be fixed, then they might have to discontinue the game for ps3 :\

also ur payed dlcs gonna be in the store soon okay? they didnt make the transferd items from lbp & lbp2 to get into the lbp3 store yet so there still working on that. dont get your hopes up .

Well, the game is kinda broken indeed, but some of your arguments are very pessimistic

About importing Vita content, asking to import levels and so from the handheld game is like asking to import stuff from the PSP version to LBP2, impossible. When they said the content could be used in all games they referred to stuff such as bought DLC (costumes mainly).

Regarding the Dive In feature being disabled, I'm not so sure about that... I'll look for it but I'm pretty sure you can still get launched with people you don't know, maybe it is just a little bit more hidden.

And for the last, yeah just activate Advanced Create Mode and there you go.... It is just an attempt from the devs to make Create look more easy and familiar to the newcomers.

at this point, it doesn't matter if your on ps3 or ps4. they're both pretty buggy. ps4 users are having more issues with dlc not importing than ps3 users. ps3 users are having sticker placement bugs ( I can only place a sticker in play mode ). but strangely enough, these issues aren't happening to everyone. And i'm hopeful that they'll be patched soon.

What i'm worried about is the real game breaker. Multiplayer. This is where the issues really come up. like you guys said, no dive in feature. you can still join in on a level.. but that's not very helpful considering the fact that connecting to other players is at least twice as hard as it was in lbp2. plus having to load a level just makes it even less likely it'll actually work. and I find it disappointing that there is no lucky dip. I don't mind the cool pages being gone. but for lucky dip, I've found great levels and great creators from digging around in lucky dip.

certain friends can't even join me due to their internet connection. some friends with slightly better internet can eventually connect but end up loosing connection soon after

i'm worried that these patches wont fix multiplayer. LittleBigPlanet is all about the community and multiplayer really needs to work. I tried to stay optimistic. but i'm starting to see the reality of it. i'm still playing lbp2. why? because lbp3 is broken.

That's pretty bad, especially considering it's the PS4 version you're playing.

What's worse is on PS4 you have to pay to play together. I don't understand why there's no cross-play between PS3 and PS4 when other games like Guilty Gear are doing it.

Assassin Creed Unity was indeed full of bugs, but at least the developpers patched it as soon as they could. Further more, they're making a Free DLC for everyone to apologize as well as giving a free game for season-pass holders.

yeah i got lbp3 for ps3 the other day, and create mode is SO unstable o_o
Aside from all the awesome new features in the game, here are some big bugs.
The game diverges every 5 minutes when i'm with friends on create mode.
Can't place stickers in create mode.
Mic feedback is still as bad as it was in lbp2.
The camera is so jittery and laggy.
The earth icon (the global settings one) has disappeared from my popit on create mode, but i can still select it.
Frequent crashing and excessively long loading screens.
It just ruins the experience for me
It's understandable though, the game is still in an early stage, and there will always be bugs to find and fix, right now it's the big bugs that need fixing, and hopefully the devs are working on fixing them
I still have hope for lbp3, it has potential to be a really good game. It's just having a bad start

it can be a good game if they can somehow make connecting to people at least as good as lbp2 ( lbp2 is still pretty bad compared to many other games ). the rest are small issues that I know can be patched.

I think that LBPK was honestly the worst release. LBP3 isn't that bad but it's so BUGGY.

Agreed. Even if it was spin-off, United Front Games ruined the francise. LBP 3 it's not better than previous LBP, but it's not bad at all, just people forgot the situation with LBP K.

PS3 version here, it's a okay game. LBP2 was so much better in every way, but LBP3 is not really a bad or buggy game.

Hi all! Just thought I'd pop in and give my 2 cents:
Here's the deal, this game was even more stable when in BETA. Maybe it was because it didn't rely too heavily on online? IDK.
My point is, It doesn't matter if it is "young." A good game is young when in it's BETA, and mature on release and/or following month(s).

Next point... for all those continuing to defend LBP3 by labeling the victims of it's faults as complainers, you're taking a bias and impractical stance. I don't care if you face the same problems and see past them through to the game it should be, LBP3's current status is unacceptable.

I still hold out faith that the game will continue to get better. And I believe that, to be the motivation for many of the arguments here.
But we're not talking about the future. We're talking about now.. and now, the game is heavily broken.

Kids, children, who are well acquainted with the LBP series in the past have been given this game with the hopes of something magical. Many of them wouldn't understand the forgiving nature we feel towards this game. And would in fact be crushed by the knowledge that a poor-scheduling corporate giant like Sony would care so little for their experience.

While there's nothing that can be done by us except report the problems, it does raise the point that our accusations lead nowhere. But that'd be wrong...
The massive amount of negative feedback has reached far, thus persuading buyers from buying the game either now, or at least until it's fixed.
It's the reason I'm not buying it yet. And I wouldn't have been able to make the decision without the communities feedback.

Now I, and hopefully many others can be spared from taking place in an involuntary BETA, and can instead mess around with LBP2 for a little while longer.

Which BTW, is where you can find me nowadays. ;-)

Well they tried their best to make lbp3 a great game. And hey, we're lucky we even got another lbp game! MM quit lbp a long time ago! Maybe we should just be calm and wait for Sumo to fix all the glitches.

Personal opinion:

I got the game for xmas. It was love at first sight. The visuals and gameplay were stunning. I really really liked it. It was so much better than LBP2 (which I really hate, don't argue, personal taste), and of course much much better than LBPK, which looked o.k. but was a mess... LBP3 managed (for me) to continue where LBP1 had ended: The look and feel, the atmosphere, the graphics, the story and of all that. (yes I hate Leonardo and his cronies, I hate how Avalonia looked, I hate the whole comic-book graphics, I hate how in every stage you had to use powerups that changed the gameplay completely, never got the hang of using that grappling hook e.g. But this is not about how much I hated the second game, but about how much I loved the third.)

At first...

Because, as it is, if you fall blindly in love with someone, you will have a hard time, when you wake up and really open your eyes for that first time, and begin seeing the flaws you haven't been aware of before.

The amount of time you spend on loading-screens is too damn high, but that's o.k. for what you get.

The game is really short, But that would not be the problem, if I could actually finish it.

Which I bloody can't. Because the whole thing is a freaking buggy glitchy mess.

Today is january 11th.

Game is out now for close to two month and it obviously still has those issues I have experienced myself which include:

- several crashes while using stickers and decorations in create-mode and decorating moon, earth or adventure-craters
- Framerate-drops
- missing icons in popit
- gameplay errors when playing levels created in LBP1 and LBP 2 like indestructable opponents... (my own levels, and I certainly did not use any exploits or glitches in creating them)
- problems in create-mode like missing audio

and the most severe: the corrupt story files, that make my sackboy drop through the floor in manglewood-hub-level, makes all level-entries, price-bubbles and other collectable stuff disappear in manglewood and lagoon hub, stops me from completing some other levels like "The Wheel Deal"...

This is a known issue, for weeks, still no bugfixes? What the heck, people srsly... what the heck.

This could have been such a great game.

Everybody here has different issues with the game, some don't have problems, some do. It's not really a game that you could overall call "a bug filled mess" because of the fact that everybody has a different time with the game.

My problems:

I can't play online. (My biggest Issue)
Every time I try to join people, it says they are busy

NO DLC TRANSFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I can't live without sticker panel (i used to make pixel art))

Every time I try to make a powerup, I can't save it without losing it)

Thats the beginning of my problems. I have to eat dinner now, so bye

First, I've had little to no problems with LBP3 and love it. I've only experienced minor things like my costume resetting every once in a while and stuff like that. Granted, I haven't tried to import my LBP1/2 profile and I haven't tried to redownload all my DLC I had and I haven't gone into create mode except to view the collected items and deco up close.

Second, my most disappointing game of 2014 would have to be Escape Dead Island on the PS3. Worst. Game. Ever.

While I like to be positive about things, Sumo didn't give us this game. They were paid to make the game and charged full price for something that wasn't finished. Perhaps they were under pressure to get it shipped in time for Christmas, but it clearly needed more work. Their post-release communication has been very patchy. If you'll excuse the pun.

The game was being made for over 3 years. It wasn't rushed.

I think we should all remember that LBP2's engine was no way near perfect. It was buggy and it crashed quite a bit. A lot of the same issues people are having with LBP3 are just LBP2's problems with a 16 layered coat of paint. LBP3 has a few new problems, but mostly because it's using a extremely modified LBP2 engine.

Also, the PS4 version is even worse because it's a game mostly optimized for the PS3's CELL hardware, being ported to wildly different PC hardware.

I've had little issues with LBP3 so far.

Some issues I've had though are slug speed loading times and being told players are busy when they clearly aren't.

Just a few more patches to make loading screens faster, fix the online bugs and other various glitches and it will be a pretty solid game.

This might sound strange but I really miss the 24 hours of create trophy. That has always given me the push I needed to get past the 'where the heck do I start?!' stage. I expected to fully delve into the suite of tools on this one and finally make the level that's been in my head for the last few years but I don't feel compelled to after all the bugs and glitches.

It's a shame because LBP3 is, in many ways, the best of the series. It's well written, the gameplay is tighter than ever, the new characters add a nice variety to gameplay and the creation possibilities are almost limitless but it's hampered by instability (no, that's not a new power up), terrible connectivity and a few missing features like Dive In and, well, most of the DLC.

You know, like every LBP game....

People kept saying that LBP1's launch was hell. A quote from LBF user KlawwTheClown: "I got it on release day (October 2008) and everything was broken. If you got flung into a wall too fast? Profile corrupted. If you glued score bubbles to something? Your level would fall apart in play mode. You also couldn't play any community levels because the servers were broken, and online creating was still a year or two away.". Hell, rating levels wasn't even a feature at launch and gluing bubbles to the ground without it falling apart was a year away. A YEAR.

LBP2 apparently wasn't that much better. People reported on profiles not loading if they were too big, or your Pod itself randomly being destroyed. And with my personal experience (I recently replayed the game) the online is even worse then LBP3's and has always been that way.

LittleBigPlanet Karting was extremely buggy (and still is). With terrible online and a glitch that occured in my own level that made it stop tracking the racers positions.

This isn't new.

You can't honestly tell me you expected vita stuff to be imported? I would love to see a source on that. (I would love vita stickers, costumes and materials, they were generally better than LBP2's)

In LittleBigPlanet 3, you get Sticker Panel without even having the Move Pack because of how handy it is. So check back in your popit, even without DLC transfer, it should be there.
