LittleBigPlanet 3 Ignites a Console Civil War

Since LittleBigPlanet 3 was announced we've been jumping up and down from excitement, even more when we heard it was a
next-gen game. This means it's built for the PS4.

But, there was a sudden cease in the over-all excitement around the community. Caused by the announcement that LittleBigPlanet 3 was headed for the PS3 also.
Some were super happy hearing about this because they didn't have to purchase new console. But others were worried that the PS4's LittleBigPlanet's quality would be dragged down by the PS3 version.

We're are quite aware that the PS4 is quite more powerful and with much more features that his older brother.
With an 8-core AMD Jaguar CPU, clocked up to 2.75GHz. This is paied with an 800MHz AMD Radeon GPU and a healthy 8GB of GDDR5 RAM.
While his older brother the PS3: it has a single-core chip running at 3.2GHz. You get a 550MHz GPU and 256MB of DDR3 RAM.


The differences in power are huge, aren't they? Also keep in mind that the controllers are completely different.
Developers admit that the PS3 is pushed to the limit.

How does this affect LittleBigPlanet 3? Well we haven't seen how neither of the games perform on each console But we have seen how different both consoles are, and some think that to keep both versions in a close, well balanced direction they will hold up on the PS4 game, so the PS3 game can run along with it without being left behind.

This is a serious issue right now in the community. LittleBigPlanet 3 has brought up a console war and is it gonna go on until the release? I sure hope it doesn't.

But, what do you think? Do you think that it's ok that LittleBigPlanet 3 is gonna be on the PS3 too? DO you think this might screw up the quality of the PS4 game? Let me know with a reply.

And personally I would like it to be a PS4 exclusive, I think it's about time for developers to make next-gen, current-gen.
And LBP2 screws up way too much after millions of patches, I wouldn't imagine what the LBP3 a much more heavier game is gonna do to the poor PS3. And I really want Sumo Digital to blow me away with an amazing game and I believe the PS4 is the only tool that can manage to do that.

Well, OF COURSE LBP3 is gonna be better on PS4 but Sumo Digital or Media Molecule, I didn't notice the producer, has to make a PS3 version, of course the will spend a huge amount of money but think all the money we spend for all the DLCs? This way the will pay double bit they will paid of TRIPLE or higher if PS4 game will has a BIG success because PS3 version,for me, it is gonna have an ENORMOUS SUCCESS. Well, I think that they did right of making it both PlayStation 3 or 4 because some people can't afford a PS4

I think it will be amazing on the PS4, surely it should be a PS4 exclusive. I also think PS3 is making ""Next-gen"" (Not actually) games being downgraded just to fit on its patterns, this way the PS4 is not going to make such a big difference both on graphics AND gameplay (That it shows to be innovative).
I also heard about the PS4 levels being playable on PS3... Well that is and is not good. Why? Well, in my opinion, sometimes it will be great because you want your level to be popular or even Team Picked and being playable on both platforms so everyone can play it and enjoy. The bad part is that sometimes you want certain platform to play a type of level, maybe on PS3 it will be glitchy so players may screw up your level because they didn't played as planned.
I want this LBP to be nostalgic, like... LBP1ish... Some good story mode and amazing community, I agree with "LBP2 was too techno"

I understand the concern, but just because they said it will be for both PS3 and PS4, doesn't mean they're gonna dumb it down. Did they say that that's what they did? NO! You just assume. *Rant over*

I do think it was a damn good idea for it to be for both PS3 and PS4. Better buisness, bigger community. I'm still saving up for a PS4 to play LBP3, though. I want the full and best LBP3 experience!

Well I think that both games are called LittleBigPlanet 3 but the PS4 version has to be different! Only because of the different controllers. It would be a big surprise for me if they didn't use the new functons of the PS4 controller. If they make a ps4 and ps3 version they have to make similiar but different story levels in my mind because of the different abilitlies you have on ps4. And I don't want to play a ps3 story mode with my PS4. I think if they release the game for both consoles the only way how they can solve this problem is to spit the community.
But... it is LittleBigPlanet 3!... If someone can solve that than sumo can

Well I want the best out of LBP3 so personally i will be purchasing a PS4 for LBP3. I'm not too concerned about whether its coming out for PS3 & PS4 because we can't really change anything.

But in the mean time if there is a war I will be hiding in my basement playing LBP2 until LBP3 comes out.

I'm mostly just worried about the community getting split up.. Someone said that ps4 player would be able to play with ps3 players but somehow I don't think that's possible. I don't own a ps4.. and I probably wont for a long time but, I think it would have been better to have it only on ps4.. not to mention the whole dumbing it down for ps3 thing everyone is talking about.

I concerns me that if they took out the touchpad feature just to be even with the PS3 version. AND it'd be great if they made up their minds and make it PS4 only. We all have to make the upgrade sometime, and to expand that time isn't always the best option...

I'm buying a PS4 just for this game! I do believe it will be kinda limited by its PS3 brother buuut I do not really mind. It is a new LBP game for god's sake that is awesome!

I'm personally going to buy it for PS3. I would have bought a PS4 just for the occasion, but after hearing about it coming out on the PS3, I've decided to keep with the PS3... Maybe. The PS4 may be more powerful than the PS3, but that does not mean that it isn't powerful. It's still an extremely powerful machine - with more than enough power to play LittleBigPlanet 3. The only differences that could really be made is because of the controllers. It's understandable; because the PS4 has different controllers in comparison to the PS3. But hey - I think it'll be great.

I don't know about everyone else but personally I've never enjoyed touch screen gaming but I sort of get why people do. I'm just a nerd that has always enjoyed buttons and joysticks

It would be cool if you could play with people that are playing LBP3 on PS3 while you're playing the PS4 version. like crossplay or something.

Well, I don't know about all of you, because I haven't seen this stated, but they CAN lower the graphics on the PS3 without lowering the graphics on PS4, its very easy, no compatibility issues, just some tweaks, the touchpad might be an issue cause you cant just change that to match the PS3, they might tell you if levels have the touchpad function on the PS3 like how move levels were done

But the same way you can tone down graphics for games on PC, I'm sure the PS3 will be done automatically, and all without the changing of ANYTHING on PS4

But if you have seen the preview on e3 (which I'm sure everyone has) I can see that it doesnt look "dumbed down"

Mainly the touchpad thing and the 64/32 bit differences on PS4 and PS3 is what will really matter, not the graphics, or speed, because that is all console based, not combability based

Im getting lbp3 for ps3. I don't want to pay $460 for LBP3 and ps4.

I'm going to try and get a job over the next few weeks to save up for a PS4+LBP3, especially if the Beta is only released on the PS4. If I can't save up in time, I'll definitely be able to afford it by Christmas. LBP3 looks way more advance and complex than LBP2 so I struggle to see how much better the performance could be on the PS3. At least on the PS4, I'd be able to cope with "randomers" joining me on my moon only to crash my PS3 with a more-explosive-than-necessary nuke.

With that said, I have a PS3 slim so I don't want to get a PS4 is a newer model will come out down the line, although the PS4 itself is already much smaller than my PS3.

I think it was stated that they would incorporate the touchpad into create mode so I do think the PS4 version will be made to utilise the PS4's advantages. LBP!

I'm getting LBP3 for the PS4! I'm not really worried about it being dumbed down or anything. Idk what the ps3 version will be like, but I think it's good that people who just want to keep a ps3 will have the option to do so!

i think the features that are ps4 exclusive could be mimicked by the move controller. Say, didn't the lbp3 dev team also dev the move pack? Makes sense when you realize that a dual shock 3 and move had a wild night and became dual shock 4 but with a touch pad accent. You see, lbp3 will be great on ps3, it will just run faster and less laggy on ps4. i wonder if the ps3 version will get all 16 layers or just the same 3 thick layers?

i have already pre-ordered for ps4. i will get my first day one shirt after all these years.

anyways, whomever made move, dual shock 4 has it. that light bar and touch pad is move functions.

As long as the Ps4 can reach its maximum power without being held back by the Ps3 i'm happy. If the Ps4 and Ps3 have the same thermometer size then i'll be upset.

thats a let down... i don't see why the thermometer couldn't improve and still have backwards compatibility. i would prefer a bigger thermometer over backwards compatibility actually. oh well, theres always emit and destroy...

We are going to see improvement on the thermo. Instead of making the thermo bigger, (more space) they're gonna make the object, materials & everything else take up less space so the thermo doesn't fill as quickly.
Because increasing the thermo space they would increase loading time. and really nobody wants that.

If it's not the thermo that will be increased, than what will be exclusive for the PS4? I do think that's a bit of a let down, considering the PS4's power. Think of the possibilities of what you could create with such power! :o But like all cross games (PS4 and PS3 games), I'm afraid the PS4 won't be that much better than the PS3 version, aside from a better resolution. I am still happy it comes to the PS4, since I sold my PS3 to my broher.

The thermo is what makes lbp so laggy sometimes. It calculs in real time the impact of EVERYTHING in your level. Since it has a lot of things to calculate (many stuff on the level) the console turns laggy.

But there is another limit than the thermo, that tells you "there are too many things in this area of your level...".
I hope they will simply remove that ******* thermo, and let ONLY this limit does its (better) job.

(of course this limit that I'm talking about would be MUCH bigger on ps4, but it's already quite big on lbp2 )

I'm gonna by this game for PlayStation 3, cause I'm not going to buy PS4, because my friends aren't too so I don't like to be alone even if I had LBP 3 (maybe they will add ability to play with PS3 players, but I'm not quite sure about that.) Maybe PS4 version will be working faster, and have clearer graphics, but hopefully for PS3 players will get this game as good as PS4 players

I believe PS3's version will be just as good as PS4's, with the only difference being graphics and such stuff. Not even the framerate will be affected. I think I'll wait to buy a PS4 for Media Molecule's new creation.

The games will both be compatible with eachother but ps3 wont have stuff like touchpad and the new amazing graphics.

If they don't make crossplay a possibility, I'll probably end up buying the game twice.. after I eventually get a ps4. if they make crossplay work, I imagine that ps3 users will bog down ps4 users a bit when they join

I think that LBP3 will be cross-played. They can't just seperate the LittleBigPlanet Community.

I really, really hope they don't split the community. I think that would be the worst thing for lbp
