(warning, my tweet contains a few f-words)

LBPC has been hacked, the forums are unaccesable just as user profiles, i'm not an internet expert but i assume the entire forum got wiped including all the posts, topics and user profiles. Passwords may have been stolen too.

Someone promote this to main news as quick as possible! D:

I know alot of computer shit, and I can tell you after seeing this

"Fatal error: Memcache is not installed in ..../includes/class_datastore.php on line 185"

that the database is toasted.

...well, there's a revealing message on the removed Forums page that says "Hacked By Sackboy! Database Dumped!", but i already suspiced that message had to do with it.

Well this is horrible news! I will faint if we can't restore the database of the page somehow Maybe we have a backup from a few weeks ago? Oh my

Anyway... This doesn't seem that elaborate I mean... His thing only works with Chrome or Firefox so he didn't know how to adapt the code to Safari or IE... Also his code is very simple, it's basically just his badly made animation in divs. But whatever hope it can get fixed soon!

@Sound Fricton No he is not a coder and the tweet that DK made with LBF account was just for fun

I think LBPC was really hacked or so what. When I try to go to the forums on lbpc with my Safari browser I get an error message

EDIT: Freddy, as you can see from my tweet it has been hacked more than just that message. The forum database is supposedly wiped out too. On FF and Chrome it should display a black screen with a message and according to some other people a video and some audio saying "you got hacked" i think.

this... worries me. i'm sure it's not a very nice day for the staff and active members over at LBPC

also, the people that hacked are most likely LBP players ( obviously ), and that could mean that other LBP sites are at risk.

not a good situation at all

It's a redirect to a different webpage. The normal webpage for forums is "lbpcentral.com/forums" (I believe) but it redirects to "lbpcentral.com/forums/forum.php". If you delete "forum.php", the webpage goes to an error which also happens if you click any of the other links on the homepage. LBPC might just be down, and they somehow managed to add the animation and whatever.

It's a cat, by the way. I looked at the website sources. Found the source of the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl...d&v=eXjOTyi7AwI Note the name: Song For Deface Page. It's likely that they just edited a page but they probably didn't do much else.

The "FATAL error" message could mean that the server is down or inaccessible. In fact, LBP Central could've shut it down as a security measure. No updates from their Twitter yet.

I've been in a skype group with a lot of LBP'ers and a lot of them being LBPC guys, it's assumed the database is lost. I can't access my profile either because a database file is missing. The site is hacked guys, confirmed by everyone.

I'm pretty sure that their servers are not down or wiped. If they were, then I don't think that the homepage or images (the top banner of the website) should be working. The hackers could possibly have exploited a vulnerability in their forum software, but who knows? It's VBulletin 4 software, after all, and the latest is 5.

Hopefully they have some server backups that they can restore if that is the case. I doubt that the hackers were ambitious enough to perform something as elaborate as actually accessing the server, though.

Also I'm sure LBPC has various backups, but not sure how often they were realized. Sure they werennt everyday, not likely every week... I think we'll lose about a month of posts maybe? I truly don't know, don't want to know

I think that the hackers stole the server data because they apparently made a "dump", which is basically a backup of the server which can include passwords, emails, etc. They even have a section of their website (PS forums) for posting these dumps, and you need to pay. I'm trying to DDOS them using Google Spreadsheets, but they have CloudFlare.

Anyway, it's unfortunate that their servers didn't get wiped, but I wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened very soon. For the good of the players!

Well that is an odd opinion. We shouldn't be happy that one of our friend forum webpage gets hacked. Kind of shameful to think that way imo. Anyway we got a lot of backups of the most important info in other servers so yeah... Pretty much every contest, 150 episodes of Spotlights and so on from that page are safe from hackers and such.

@Seleven7 i'm personally not a fan of LBPC for a few reasons ( none that I care to share here ), but I don't see how that's "cause for celebration". I don't believe that this issue is good for the community or the members of LBPC. I really hope that the damage is minimal and that they can recover soon.

Well if you'd want to create something like LBF, it probably wouldn't cost you a thing, seeing as how poor this website actually is.

No, really. There's so much stuff wrong with LBF's web design. LBPC was sorta laggy but it worked very well. I wouldn't know how much it costs as it was built by fans (right?) and held up by donations. I think you'll just need to buy a website and create a site to host on it, i guess.

LBPC has been homogenizing the creative forces in the game and promoting stiflingly elitist behavior for a while now... so we had to start #OpLBPC, right? Some may resist now but it will ultimately lead to a better LittleBigPlanet. Hopefully LBPC will be completely eradicated before LBP4! We should all pitch in and annihilate LBPC off of the face of the web!

@Woutery: Well every fanpage has a different layout... I remember that, as much as I loved the Planetarium and LittleBigLand, I hated the way their forums were organized! Every fanpage has a similar layout to me, and I don't find specially hard to use any of them (LBN, here...), but I do agree that for some reason, LBPC has a very friendly design. That doesn't mean this webpage was easy to set up though... Just look at the background I'm pretty sure that from there it is the very best of LBP fansites But anyway it's a thing of opinions I suppose.

@Seleven7: . I don't even know if you're joking bud, but being part of the Spotlight crew for LBPC as well I can tell you something: Yes, getting a spotlight isn't easy, but it isn't elitist. Everyone has got the same opportunity, the thing is we won't spotlight Bomb Survivals, Shark Survivals, Kill Justin Bieber levels, that's not the spirit of the thing. It took me three years of experience to finally get an spotlight. The thing is, if a creator is really good, everytime he posts his work in the Showcase, he has the right to be spotlighted, but even then, only if his work deserves it. Every single level posted in the showcase is played several times by different people and voted upon. Many times you've never even heard of the creator, but if the level leaves you like "Holy Golden Cows!" you will want to promote it no matter what.

I wasn't talking about the spotlights in particular, I was talking more about the stuffy attitude of the entire website. Although throwing the spotlights on samey levels makes the entire game samey. Same problem with the MM Pick system.

@Seleven7 Also with LBP3's new community page. How am I supposed to find lots of levels?

@Woutery and @Yugnar, the site is just fine. Sure, it isn't a forum of an extremely big MMO, but it does for this game. Be happy what you get, if you don't like it here go to another site I guess.

Edit (yugnar): Bypassing language filters.

yes. I really hope they can work it out and get it back up and running. i'm .. starting to worry a bit.

as for the topic about which site is " better " , it's really just a matter of opinion. but we should remember that the members and founders of every LBP fan site have one thing in common.

It's kind of depressing news that LBPC is down during the one event that I have chosen to create in (VCC3). Not really detrimental but nonetheless a little disappointing. Also I always use LBPC as it is the easiest on my eyes and it is always the busiest when I am on. Spotlights there are sometimes good and sometimes bad. Some episodes just spotlight one or two creators it seems but it looks like hard work to find the levels so I don't complain.

The problem is that I have an lbpc account. I'm hoping they won't try to hack our emails.

It takes a lot more to hack an e-mail provider.

Dang. LBPC is my main LBP community site, shame that it's down. Still, it gives me ample opportunity to visit the other LBP community sites. Personally, I like the layout of this one a little better.

2 days prior to the hack there was a security patch for vBulletin 4.2.2, the version which LBPC uses. I wonder if jww had simply failed to update?

the admin stated it probably won't be back up until after the holidays due to him being extremely busy this time of year.

If the hackers actually got our LBPC emails and passwords, chances are that you have the same password for everything, so they can log into your email and change its password, go to a bunch of popular websites (Twitter, Facebook, etc), log in with your email and password there, change your password, and if those websites require email verification, no problem-o. I doubt that they actually hacked, anyway. They're probably bluffing like those people at Lizard Squad. They probably claim credit to hacks every time they happen even if they didn't pull them off themselves.

The tweet for the lazy:

"So sorry for the huge delay, but should be able to make some progress later this week and have it all back online this weekend or so."

No, you won't have to wait another month.

Not all gone. He is most likely loading up a backup of the site before it went down. So don't worry about losing anything.

they're an ok site. they just go a bit overboard with their censorship. they cut out things just because they don't like it sometimes

nice to hear that they'll be back up.

Apparently this image showing how settings were different in the two versions of LBP3 is worthy of censorship on LBPC

That's one of the reasons I prefer this site.

I never knew why the word "happened" was censored. It has been like that in every LBP game. LBP3 has it too, since it's using LBP2's engine which is LBP1's engine!

Does Vita have it too? That was created by scratch, right?

within the word "happened" there is a swear word in some other language. same with "computer" . Not sure what they are but it's funny they censor it.

That's what my friend said to me about LittleBigPlanet Central. Even though they are one of the bigger fansites, I feel like they are restrictive by what they allow there (at least according to my friends).

Sorry guys. Looks like we'll have to wait an even longer time for the site to get back up. I'm guessing a lot of old users will be gone when it is. And so far there's no guarantee that all the data will be stored. We also have the problem of hackers potential having emails and passwords. This is looking pretty bad.
