It would be cool to make cartoon levels. But yeah, they should make something else.

Someone played ori and the blind forest?
It felt like made with advanced lbp engine.
(without restrictions)
Now this dlc comes.
Coincidence?
The materials looks pretty good in my opinion.
Costumes... Well i dont need them even for free.
Stickers... I seldom use some.
Items... Didnt see any.
Accecorys... Didnt spot any.
New logic... None.

I promise that my adventure will give you tenfold better content.
I wait mostly that they lift restrictions.
Until they do, i think i will finish first part of plot.

Most useless kit so far imo.
Game is a piece of trash anyways, like the concept of DLC is also trash. Back in the day when MMOs were the shit we had something called "expansions". You bought them in a real life store and you got extra content that was as big as or bigger as the main game. No crap then, stupid things like this now. Spot the difference?

This also is a great moment for me to say I'm leaving LBP, thus this forum too. Have a nice day lil' slanks.

@nerd_dog
I am not hating it but i would feel pretty much robbed while paying 6?.
In my opinion, the only usable thing that i spotted was the pink material that would be perfectly usable for sakura trees.
No offense but if i would get it for free, i would most probably delete the rest, even the costumes since they were made absolutely without love to detail.
I think that most of all stickers are fundamentally useless. (Not just from this theme)
Well some people are making real magic with stickers but i cant start anything with it.
Didnt get to hear the music so i cant say anything about it.
Please be honest and compare it with the content from dc-comics, move pack or x-controller.
It costs the same while it have tons of more and by far better content.
I repeat, i dont hate it.
It is cute but not worth the money.
No offense, i am only honest.

Actually the packs you mentioned are more expensive. That's why they have more content.

This Adventure Time kit is the same as the Incredibles kit, or the Nightmare Before Christmas kit (though I believe it offers more content on the whole than Incredibles). A little more expensive than the History or Monsters kits, because it's licensed, but cheaper than the "premium" level packs which contain several levels and often new logic or abilities.

That said, 16 materials is nothing to scoff at. They might not be useful to you, but they're the first cell-shaded style materials that we've gotten. Plus there's a bunch of decorations, 3 music tracks (and two dramatic music bits), 4 objects, a bonus costume (Incredibles and Nightmare packs did not have that), a bunch of stickers, and a new level background. It's a godsend for anyone who wanted to make a proper Adventure Time level, and still very useful for those who just want to make a level with a cartoon aesthetic.

Plus the gallery level is actually pretty fun to play through. if not particularly challenging.

I like the cell shaded look a whole lot. and just imagine the cartoonish possibilities if you made a level using a sackbot with the "Popboy" skin (or whatever it's called). I think we all deserve some sort of big add on that's free eventually.. like a creator pack 3. but I think this has some really good stuff in it from what I can tell.

but yea, for everyone that disagrees and doesn't find this kit as appealing as I do, that's perfectly fine. no one has to buy it. there are many kits that I just sort of went "meh.." at. so I just didn't buy them. and personally, I sort of regret buying The Nightmare Before Christmas kit. my point being, not everyone is gonna find every level kit useful. don't get me wrong though, if you feel like saying that this kit looks boring or whatever, go ahead and say.

as for me, this kit looks like one of the best so far. that's only my opinion.. and it's apparently the opinion of a few others that have posted. there's no grounds to call everyone that disagrees with you "lil' slanks" @Soundfriction.

but just remember, the people making the DLC are NOT the same people trying to fix the game. lets be fair here people. arguing that sumo should be fixing previous dlc (which they are actually working on) instead of releasing dlc is completely invalid.. considering the fact that Tarsier is making the dlc.

Edit: the last part I mentioned about people complaining that there is dlc being released while there are bugs present is more for future reference in this topic. I know someone's going to try to come along and bring up a completely invalid argument.. hopefully they actually read a little before they post.

Thx for the info.
Didnt spot the extras.
Well i bought dc comics right at the start and paid 6?.
Dc-c and move pack are best dlc and absolutly worth the money.
I cant remember what dlc were with lbp2se.
But never paid more than 6? for dlc.
As for adventure dlc, i will hear on my 6 sense an wait a bit.

I also dont know why people are criticizing it so much! It's design feel was comical and kept the cartoon feel, which I understand is unique and definitely different, but I find this kit looking really nice! Sure it might not have new tools and etc, but I'm sure AT fans will love this kit because it has nearly everything needed! Combine LBP3 tools and this kit, you could be looking at really awesome Adventure Time Adventures! Instead of giving you a story to complete, they give you what you would want in order to make an Adventure Time Story! I might buy it just to show you it's full capabilities

I can't wait to see what people make with a more cartoonish look actually. seems like most people have been trying for realism. which is still really cool but some more variety would be nice. I honestly hope that they release some more cartoon sort of packs in the future.. with some more cell shaded stuff because that looks amazing

You definitely cannot exactly recreate this with the LBP engine, and a recreation would lack the advanced visuals. The LBP engine is so un-optimized. Just try resizing a circle too small, or making one too big. It'll either look like a dodecagon (or whatever, I don't remember the number of sides) or a...it's not even describable. The LBP lighting engine is honestly horrible. I don't know what they did, but shadows look more jagged in LBP2 than LBP1, and shadows aren't very realistic or dynamic in either game. The lighting engine is a little better in LBP2, but it's still pretty...well, not good. The frame rate will probably tank if you attempted to create graphics like that. The 3D sprites, scenery, music, and dialogue aren't possible at all. Not to mention the task of keeping the thermometer down. Trying to work with dynamic loading would be H-E-double hockey sticks.

@psmerga
That would definitely be almost unable to be recreated with the LBP3 Engine. Such sheer detail and (Near the start of the video) the trees are so beautifully done that each individual leaves are like moving, you'd have to increase the scale, but that'd take up level space and fill up thermo due to amounts of corners (complexity!)
I'd love to be able to make something like that, but I cannot with the current LBP Engine. Maybe the next generation of LBP could allow for!
Dynamic thermo would just cause problems for such a project, and the skies, just wow! So beautiful, yet once again, extremely complicated and to just make one part of it could cause major issues.

On the otherhand, I'd love to see other cell-shaded DLC. Maybe some more CN Cartoon DLC could be released in future, but for now, I'd really love to see:
Another Adventure TIme Costume Pack (or a few). So many major characters missed out! Maybe they could make a pack with like sackboy being any compatible humanoid character (such as maybe PB or Marcy, or such) and maybe they could have made Oddsock be one of the rainicorn/dog pups. (You know, Jake's kids.)

Next Pack I'd like to see:
Cell-Shaded: Hmm. Any CN Cartoon! (Other than Steven Universe, tbh, I hate it.)
Other: Maybe a Skyrim DLC Pack? I really like the feel of Skyrim, it's sad to see they haven't even released ONE 'The Elder Scrolls' DLC. Maybe like Daedric Armor costumes or any costumes with like orc skins and etc could be released (I'd love to see that, absolutely love it!)

I might sketch a few concepts of Skryim Costumes in LBP. Maybe swoop could somehow be Alduin And Big toggle, hmm, Idk. Maybe a heavy armor variable. And Little Toggle could be something else!
If I do make a few concepts, I'll be sure to upload an image with it in another topic (perhaps fan-art) and I'd be called skyrim concept

My biggest fear is the density but ori is only in one layer. So maybe this could be also no problem.
It sounds interesting to try something like that but i am currently really all on my project.

Okay, that'll do. I've got in on my Wii which I don't even use
It'd just take a while tbh. Maybe a new dlc could be released which specializes in stickers such as Rayman Origins scene, (as in stickers for like, the tree and materials etc.)

A picture is worth a thousand words.

http://raptor.developpez.com/tutorial/rendering/celshading/images/troikar.jpg

Typical (if unrefined) shading of a 3d model on the left, cel-shading on the right.

@Pan_Ziemniak
Not necessarily comics. A lot of comics use MANY other artistic techniques/styles.
Cell-Shaded, one way to put it is...
It is a non-realistic rendering that is designed to make computer graphics appear more like a flat, cartoon or hand-drawn look, this is done by using less shading colour instead of using gradients.

You got proved wrong! JUSTIFIED!

Since Adventure Time is a popular Tv show why can't sumo add more characters to the dlc pack?
I sooo want to make an adventure level with this stuff but I need more characters to make it good D;
Like if you add Finn then where's Princess Bubblegum?
Fiona where's Cake the cat and Prince Bubblegum?
If add Fiona and IceKing where's IceQueen?

These Characters should of been added to the Adventure time Dlc pack a long time ago.
You cannot add a Cross Character from ice king story w/o the rest of them. And cant leave out the princess if your going to have her castle in the game .-. .

ZombieKitty, maybe it is because Tarsier cannot make a tonne of costumes at once? Also the Fiona costume is a special added costume, only included in the Level Kit! Much alike to the Cyborg and Cheetah costumes in DC...
2.
Have you realised that there are many costume packs such as Marvel 1, 2,3 and so forth? Not all of these packs would have been created so quickly like a blink and released at the same time, so be patient!

Also, PB would be all chubby if there was a costume of her
Very chubby indeed. Too much candy...

The thing with the Marvel/DC/Muppets/Toy Story costumes pack series' is that it was clear that they would be a series. I don't think we're going to be getting any more official Adventure Time costumes than what we've got.

On the plus side, you could make the characters using the stickers from the level pack, which would give you a more accurate rendition. They just wouldn't be playable or animate-able using the traditional tools.

Well... actually, I was talking about using a cutout of the stickers and then slapping a controllinator on it and designing the controls from there. It'd take a lot of work though, and you wouldn't be able to use a good chunk of the premade tools.
