LittleBigPlanet just announced that they are going to release the first Story DLC:

LittleBigPlanet 3: The Journey Home is coming next month and will chronicle the next exciting chapter for Sackboy, OddSock, Toggle and Swoop, as they discover that Newton?s contraption didn?t exactly work as planned and they end up taking a ?grand detour? of LittleBigPlanet!

The Journey Home will be our first major Premium Adventure Pack DLC and will come with a new Adventure featuring brand new levels based on fan-favourite themes and characters from LBP and LBP2 totally re-imagined for LittleBigPlanet 3, some cranium busting co-op challenges for Sackboy and his new friends, a bouncy new Power-up for OddSock and a goodie bag full of new creative assets to decorate your own little corner of LittleBigPlanet with.

I hope that the DLC does not have those things where you need multiple players or controllers to get a prize. I've always hated those.

I'm glad that they have enough time to make all of this DLC but not take down all of the spam that the community levels have turned into. I like how they brag that LBP has 7 million levels (probably way more by now), but half of those are spam.

It will have Multi-Player Challenges according to what I've read.
And it's currently 9,334,911 levels, and about one-tenth is spam.
I also have not seen a single spam level in 9 months! I have to search it to find it now.
And also, if they were going to take them down, it would not be the DLC team. They don't do DLC instead, there is multiple teams working on different things, one of which is DLC.
And I am glad too that they have enough time to make all of this DLC! I am enjoying every bit!

I personally wont be getting this adventure dlc until I hear about it. the main reason I get any dlc is for the prizes that it offers... like the DC pack.. that was such a great pack. and surprisingly fun to play. hopefully this is at least almost as good

I'm a sucker for content packs. Even if contains just one useful object or material, or something that creates the tiniest sparks in my mind, I need to have it.

I guess I like having 100% on everything that ever was, too. Bit more of an OCD thing there. That blasted Marvel pack is killing me though. There's an extremely difficult x4 section that I just can't make work. And no one ever plays or owns that. By myself (playing Octodad with my controllers) I can do x2 and even x3, or a x4 that's not too challenging, but a challenging x4 with no convenient checkpoints...

Well, maybe one of these days.

Pretty interesting, I think this is the first major bunch of DLC levels (adventure DLC) which isn't based in another franchise, but as an extension to LBP3's story itself. I've always bought these so this one will be no exception

I'm glad you take time to reply on the forums about things but apparently haven't been able to find any time in the past 8 months to get me a Beta Test Vest code or a Bug Blaster (i consider myself eliglible for it).

I mean, i can tell there's base LBP3 materials in the Gardens screenshot, and that there's LBP2 materials in the Factory Of A Better Tomorrow screen. So what materials are used in the pack? Are there new materials? Or is it just mostly re-uses of materials from LBP3 and LBP2?

This is unfortunately due to the outstanding DLC issues preventing us from being able to reward these costumes. (They are currently not working in Europe and this needs addressing before we can begin to distribute them)

Once these last few issues have been sorted out though, we will be able to begin distributing DLC codes again without an issue.

Y'all can be a bunch of bummers some times, you know that?

I mean, not all of you, but a select and frequent some of you. We're getting our first major level pack and all you can do is spit venom. It makes me wonder why you folks even stick around if you aren't going to be in any way supportive of the development and improvement of the game.

But how much will it be? If its like a whole new story mode, ie, not just one picture with 5 levels around it like normal, then I feel it will be around £20. I want to see some good value here, DC Pack was great value, but Nightmare Before Xmas was nowhere near worth what it was considering that value of DC.

I think you got me wrong here. I'm really excited for this levelpack and i think LBP3 is truly a great game. Then again, in the beginning there have been a lot of bugs and for example i really hate how the launch went, but i still support the community and the game. I also thought - hey, Steven is replying to people here, let's see if he'll answer my question.

Let's say you're, i don't know, watching a movie. The acting and story is great, then there's a few really bad special effects. You'll praise the story and critisize the special effects. Right? I love LBP3, i don't exactly like the bugs. I like Steven, i dislike(d) that he didn't answer my question. But eh, he answered it anyways so i'm not gonna complain.

I used to think this too until I realized that there isn't much Sumo can do about this. Spam levels will almost always exist, and even if Sumo got rid of them, the spammers would just continue to keep publishing their bad levels. This is why forums are so great. You can easily fine great levels that you can queue up and instantly play. It's mostly just kids that play these spam levels, so we can just ignore them and continue to enjoy LBP3 .

@gurren009 No. They have the ability to completely block spam levels. If an object in your level is moderated, then it will automatically go down and you can't republish it until it is deleted. What's so hard about moderating everything in these copied levels so they can't be republished at all without major overhauls?

Spam levels exist because people plays and likes them. :'(
I also have hardships to understand this trend, but there is no way around then to accept this fact.
The forum is the best way to deal with it.
Promote the cool levels, share your creations/experience and steadily improve your creating skills.
Look on the bright side of (life) game.

Some people do like these levels, I guess, but why not moderate every copied level except for one? I don't think that it's worth it to take out the Cool Levels section in order to keep every single copied level out there. There are some real trolls, too. Remember Stephanie_Ravens? It took like 3 years for her to get banned (if she even got banned at all - she probably just got bored). I honestly don't really care that much about copying anymore, but some people obviously do. Just visit the comments section of the profiles of the main spammers. I've never seen more curses and insults. Isn't that considered instigation of a conflict and a reason to ban them? Let's assume that EVERYBODY likes these copied levels. What's so hard about excluding them from the Cool Levels page and keeping them uploaded, so people can just search for them if they want to play them? The main problem people have with them is that they obstruct good levels from reaching the Cool Pages.

That's the thing, you can just ignore the spam levels. I was arguing about this on LBPC and everyone just laughed at me and told me to ignore it. Most of the people who play spam levels are kids, and they need an easy way to find these spam levels. If Sumo just got rid of them or kept them hidden, the kids would be angry and some of them wouldn't even play lbp anymore. And less people playing, means less money from dlc, and less sales. Just let kids play the spam levels, while we play the spectacular levels found on forums .

And @ those people arguing about spam levels. Don't try to find a reason why it makes sense to have "spam levels or copied levels. Just look at the facts: They get a lot of plays as there are a lot of random people who enjoy them and that is absolutely ok for my mind . And as long as they get plays the will stay successful. But the problem is: The part of the community that likes this kind of levels is not actives on forums etc. they are just random players who play with some friends on one console and have fun beating up their friends in a mortal kombat level So they have their favorite kind of levels and the other part of the community has their favorite levels, that is great, isn't it But I think this is not the thread for such a discussion so continue with that discussion in another thread please

Yeah I agree. I'm not supporting spam levels or anything, just saying that it can't be helped and that we're better off looking for good levels on forums.

There are some re-used Materials and other items in The Journey Home; purely to add a sense of familiarity and nostalgia to the revisited themes.

Especially so that everyone can have some moments of... "Ooooh! I remember that thing! That thing was awesome!!"

Those re-used items are not being given away in The Journey Home though. (They remain exclusive to LBP1 and LBP2 imports.)

The new Adventure will still be packed full of Prize Bubbles and other rewards featuring brand new creative assets that are also used in the levels though, so you will still have lots of new goodies to collect and fill your Popits with!

This is all looking great! About how long will the pack be? Will it be like 5 or 6 levels like it usually is or a bit longer?

Big thanks for the free costumes and even bigger thanks that they are made of more parts so we can combine them with other costumes.

I think that the re-used materials in this DLC should be given to players. It is part of the DLC, after all.

For the record, I wasn't really talking about you. More about the folks who I've seen in so many of the news threads doing nothing but calling the game garbage and declaring that they're done with it, only to show up in the next news thread to declare the same thing. It's caustic behavior.

I'm all for constructive criticism. I'm not for unnecessary vitriol. I get the feeling that a lot of folks don't really understand how difficult it is to manage a game as complex and open-ended as LittleBigPlanet, or how out-of-the-developer's-hands some issues can be.

We do like to try and provide multiple costume pieces when we can!

We do love to see everyone taking those costume pieces and mixing them with other costumes pieces to make their own creations!

Cautiously optimistic about this DLC release.

Looking forward to some free costumes! Hoping that sumo one is for toggle (sumo slam!!! ) wish they had included more costumes for the new characters in game.

It would be nice to have a more fleshed out story. Lets just hope the price is worth the content. Kinda feel like we should get a discounted price to make up for the lack of story levels it started out with.
