I've started work on a gigantic song. Usually i've been making short loopable songs but i'm currently composing something that in the end will be enormeous, at least over 10 minutes long (and hopefully the longest non-collab in LBP)! I've only worked on it for four hours and it's already three/four minutes long, how about that!? I'll post updates on how the work is going and i'll keep track of work and time put in the song each day with notes on the sequencer.

Just gonna ask it to start some interesting discussion, does anyone else have experience with really long songs?

hahaha yes I do. They take a while if you want to do a good job. It's also hard to keep it interesting enough to hold peoples attention. But I think you got this man

Oh yeah, I've made a pretty long song before.
Just try not to repeat too much, but have an initial melody you can use in most of the song in some way.

My songs have an average duration of about 2 minutes, my longest song is a medley of LBP music in the style of "Stars on 45", it is 7minutes and 14 seconds long. But this doesn't count because the main theme is covered as well as the LBP music parts. And a medley has no problems with repetitions.

I made a song that was about 12 minutes and 40 seconds long. Beat that.

After hearing your songs you should be able to do it, as far as I go, I should be able too.

@sound friction. meansr has made like.. a half hour mega mix . it may actually be longer. plus, theres like.. collab projects with many people that are almost an hour long. if your trying to break a record you may have to go at least an hour and a half

Is that mega mix one large song or is it a bunch of them mixed together? And this is not a collab, this is one solo song. I want to reach at least 30 minutes with this project, i think it's 5 minutes long now and it's drained my inspiration, but i will go on!

oh. meansr called it a mega mix but it was one song where she cycled through like 20 EDM sub genres throughout the song

We are going to break that record, I swear. If it takes that, I'll write a symphony with my collab partner.

Sounds interesting! Long songs are always good as long as it's interesting the whole way through. The longest tune I've made is probably the medley I made which had a bunch of songs I had made before mashed into one before I went to LBP3 (although due to all the crazy tempo changes I had to make it on 4 separate sequencers, so it probably doesn't count). The longest tune I did on a single sequencer was called "Adventure" and I think it was about 11 minutes long. Anyway, good luck on yours! Hopefully the thermo won't blow up too quickly.

You're still on LBP2, right? Doesn't recognise I have any level pack let alone the Move pack in LBP3. >

I just checked how long the song actually is, right now it's on 11:55 minutes. Holy crap. I've literally made a song that's nearly 12 minutes long.

Well, I have access to the move pack, but I have to copy them the whole time, but yes, I'm still planning to play LBP2 a lot.
