Paying for Instruments

A week or so ago, LBP3 Story Expansion DLC was announced, and is supposed to supply the community with a variety of new tools, materials, etc. Additionally, the DLC is rumored to possibly carry with it new instruments. Now, I would't get your hopes up, but with music community being so neglected at launch and with move dlc issues, do you think it's fair for us to have to purchase said dlc? How do you think SUMO should go about dealing with the topic? Do we deserve free content?

In my opinion, the people that have spent more than $15-20 on LBP DLC in the LBP3 launch should get this (or something else) as a compensation, because we had to wait an EXTREMELY long time to access our purchased content.

Personally, I don't think Sumo or any other studio/company would give an expansion or even a DLC for free.

End of the day, SD are a company. They need to make money. If they spend valuable time and resources on something to give away for free, then they'd be losing out. Sadly, this is life, and consumers will always be in an "unfair" spot.

Nothing good in the world is free. Go buy an actual DAW and progress with your music <3

they did give us something. they gave us 3 costumes.. nothing very big unfortunately. I highly doubt they would do anything more for the lbp community for free. it would be nice if they did do something more, but they wont.

@Sound Friction

Wait, have they fixed DLC issues? I STILL don't have my Move Pack.

Some people seem to have them, but I'm still waiting for mine. I messaged StevenI, but, to no surprise, there was no reply or any notification that this was being fixed.

Been waiting for over 7 months now.

Honestly, I really don't think they owe you anything. At the end of the day, the music community is minuscule compared to LBP as a whole, and they have to make money one way or another.

Man i love your songs! Well thinking now, what are the probabilities of a guy like subtact being a lbp creator? They are not much, nice to meet you, dude!

@GuiSly Hahahah, I learned most of the stuff I know about composition in LBP. I never got LBP3 because every one of my friends told me it was a joke in terms of music, which is the only reason I kept playing LBP2 as long as I did.

Morta: Yee, am trying. I'm in financial rut, and am currently working a menial job for VSTs, Studio Monitors, etc... it's a long process. That, as well as the inclusion of summer classes and personal issues that cripple my income overall make orchestrating my dreams into a reality very difficult. Trust me tho, I'll be there soon enough. I want to start publishing work on Soundcloud by the age of eighteen, and I'm certainly not going to give up on music, .

I'd torrent that stuff myself. I wouldn't want to pay tons of money for a music program only to find it won't ever run more than 2 instruments at once before lagging up on my cruddy laptop.

In fact, i can already tell that literally all modern day music programs lag up on my laptop, so i don't even bother torrenting them in the first place. OpenMPT for the win.

Woutery: You can't really torrent a midi-keyboard, studio monitors and acoustic setup, kek. I'd have to be working regardless, so I might as well earn it the good ol' fashioned way. I already {"borrowed"- apparently talking about illegal activities pisses off the higher ups} Ableton, Logic Pro X and Cubase, so I think I'm gonna chill out with the illegal activity. Despite all that, I'm curious how badly your computer runs basic VST's o.o

You know you can download demo and trial demo versions for most DAWs, right? Just try them out and see which ones work best/don't lag, and if they do just focus your music priorities on upgrading your current setup

Buy as much stuff as you can, but if the lack of a VST or something is holding you back, don't be afraid to torrent. If you're a decent human being you /will/ pay it back. That's where all of my funds went when I first started making tiny bits of money here and there. It honestly doesn't take much to bring music from a hobby to a legitimate use of your time and energy for income. It's almost my living already and it's surreal.
