Hello averyone :

After The Witcher, here is another "hommage" level I did about the game "The Saboteur". For the youngest of you, it was a really good TPS/infiltration/GTAlike/RPG, released in
2009 on PS3.

The mood was great, with the black&white atmosphere, except from the nazi stuff you had to sabotage. There was a classic system of main and side missions, and completing them gave colors back to the Paris neighborhood. 

That's why my LBP level is quite black&white, I tried to reproduce this mood.

Played this level as well. Pretty cool level design and neat open world elements. I wanted to enter the links, even if the key at the end, but I suppose I need to do something else to unlock them, but I still had fun walking around and climbing on rooftops.

Yes, there's a lot a climbing here lol. This level is supposed to be a tutorial hub, but apparently interlevel doors causes problems. I can't see those problems as the game allready gives me the keys, so everything works for the conceptor, witch is another LBP3 default. Anyway I think it's fixed, if not, I will simply change evething into a guided series of levels.

And by the way, the 3rd episode is out, with a huge Eiffel tower to climb on, morning rising effect when you complete the main mission, a dog, an easter egg, and some zip-lines for the pleasure
The sub-level door is in the hub level, the access is the same, there is a simple key to find in the 1st sub-level, come back to the hub, and you access the Eiffel tower one. Everyting works on my planet, so if anything gets wrong for anyone, please tell me and I'll fix it.

The Saboteur was one that I missed out on. I really wanted to get it and then my PS3 got the YLOD. One day I plan on getting another PS3 and get some of the ones I missed. I'll queue this and give it a shot.

Hello buddy, thanx again for the review. OMG it seems that there are some little adjustements I should make here and there lol. It drives me crazy because everything works for me, including the character you should incarnate instead of... this... well this old person . But yes, it's kind of an open (little) world with quests, so I think I just play this way when I test it. Anyway, cheers, and I'll leave a thumb and a comment on your vid.

I spawned in naked, so I put on a dress like waffleking when he played the level.

I liked it and I still need to play the first mission. Good job!

Thank you. I still don't understand this character issue. It's not like if was the 1st "bug" with LBP3 ha ha. 

By the way I fixed many stuff today. The most I could without overheating. 
And because I like easter eggs, I add a little surprise for you
And the kittens have a purpose now, wich was VERY VERY important lol. I promise that when I make another sub-level, I'll add a side-quest to strangle those damn pigeons who shit everywhere !

I am digging it already, so I'll give it a play today and see what crazy stuff you added. I saw the wallpaper with Geralt's name on it, that was cool.

The bug with characters is quite common. It's a gamble everytime. You spawn in as the character the creator wants you to be, or you spawn in naked because LBP3 doesn't acknowledge it. That's why I use sackbots, also because of voice acts.

Okay gave it another play. Worth it!

Thanks for the easter egg, I placed down the wallpaper in my studio, so folks will see it when I'm rating levels or announcing them.

Ha ha, that's great!

I have 2 questions though :

- When you talk about your studio in your videos, is it another channel where you test levels more deeply? Or is it just the background level you use to present your vids? 

- You think sackbots are better for voices? Why that? The mouth moves with them and not with a custom character with an actor name ? I try to avoid sackbots because of their water allergy and their incapacity of using powerups.

The studio appears in the beginning of an episode and at the end. In episode 21 I will definitely talk about the easter egg for a moment.

Sackbots are able to swim, if you control them manually. I think when doing voice acts the mouth of the sackbots do move and the sound is coming from them too, just like with your NPCs in your cities. I think the player character can't talk, unless you can create a actor tag for him. Didn't know that.

Ok, I asked a friend to play my my levels and it's confirmed : custom characters simply don't work. It's a disaster for me, because I allways use it in most of my levels. Not only for the character's look, wich is important for the story, but the worst is all the logic I put in my custom characters seem to not apply. I'm disgusted. And using sackbots limit all the possibilities, for example sackbots can't use power ups like handle a weapon or something. It doesn't make any sense.

I posted a request for this issue in the help section, I can't find any solution for now. I hate SUMO for breaking the game like this.

Yeah, sackbots have limits. No powerups and water is deadly when sackbots walk automatically. So far there is no water and no powerups in Sackboteur. In The Witcher you had a sword though, right?

Yes but the "sword" is just some decoration sticked on his hand, and by the way it works better than a power up waving around by the player. Yes power ups cancel animations too... Pffff I'm half hooked and fed up with this game.

You're right, I might use sackbots in the sackboteur and other levels. But for now I'm tired of all this mess.

Totally understand you. Had many moments where I stopped working on a project. I have been using sackbots since LBP Vita in 2013. It worked and I could put up a framework recently. It is quite powerful, yet very simple.

Thanx for your support, L-i-m-i, it gives me the courage to make the sequel.

Yes, I think I spend too much time on esthetic stuff when I start to build a level : it makes my thermo explode at the end lol. I have to deal with that. I think I want to use too many sackbots or different matters and stickers. I'll try some tricks to make some longer levels now. If anyone have advices on this subject...

The big space eater are materials at the thermometer AND of course too many individual sackbots. I think I already told you if you didn't do it already: Make the guards exist with emitters and despawn with logic. Should empty the thermometer. Only spawn guards when player character is close.

Okay I'll try, but I'm not sure it works :

A/ I believe thermometer allready take in count the objects that the emiter will pop out.

B/ When you have a dynamic thermo, it doesn't make any difference because sackbots, like other stuff that aren't sticked, don't load until the player is close. It's well explained in the ingame turorial about dynamic thermo.

Anyway, I wont use dynamic thermo lol, so I'll give your technique a try. Thanx for the idea, mate.

LBP doesn't load the data until the object is spawned. So you'll be safe with thermometer.
