Well there is the normal way. Push it up, down to the left, to the right or to the front. Depends on what background you're using.
I don't quite get the question. Are you talking about additional layers or about actual design tips? |

i ment layer 17, like what curioussack mentioned. (that's what happens when you don't double-check your posts for mistakes, huh? |

Hi noseben,
here some hints... if you put a material (thin layer) to the rearmost position then its on layer position 17, which is behind a thick layer 16. For most purposes thats enough to create custom backgrounds f.e. putting some stickers on it or the shape of a skyline or of a mountain, etc. Some people even use layers behind the "official" layers by using the "extra layer" glitch, to get more depth in their sceneries. Here some examples from my own custom backgrounds and they are nowhere near as great as some backgrounds I've seen playing other levels... http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/0808e740607ffc97a9b11973999e8cf396563ccd.jpg http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/8b5c3a7ad0c8e7f81d9d16d439e5453cd3756d0a.jpg http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/4e0ec1ea6b9517688073e41e770479c296bcea2e.jpg http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/9ba9b520424a4f778380acf1ac901780343f1207.jpg http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/ae867001aac2b971c01ed6f44be1bad9c6d17b74.jpg The possibilities are almost endless! Avoiding to see the floor and the walls of the editor is easy to do by either keeping some distance to the walls and the floor or by disguising the walls and floor with some material or by using the camera angles... http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/84003ba515863b99e828d73a06f47c0771226ccf.jpg in this example I've hidden the left editor wall by placing the trunk of the tree on the left side, thick enough so that the camera angle of the player cam doesn't show the area beyond the trunk. To hide the floor you can use any material, which is 16 layers thick as a custom floor (a technique I also use to hide the walls sometimes!) You can find a lot of tricks watching tutorials in the tutorial sections of the LBP forums or on youtube! But if you have more specific questions, then I can also do a little tutorial for you or help you to find a helpful one! Now I have to get me some sleep! Have a good night and many greetings, Jürgen^^ |

It doesn't seem to mess up the game and level, so it should be safe to use. I would still use sticker panels here and there to make the background look more like a place. The possibilities are in fact endless. |
