Hi I am trying to make a cut scene, all I have in it at the moment are two sackbots as sackboy and the fat one, one sequencer with two cameras , a standard plain background and a lump of material with some stickers on it, also a player sensor and LBP wont let me  save it, saying that it is too complicated. the thermometer is barely  up to the second bar. What is going on?

I know this error only from creating single piece of material that exceeds the max size of information.
Example for this could be a big ladder.
If it is the case, cut it into two or more pieces.

Other possibility of buggy behaivor could be the density of objects.
But in that case you get another error prompt or the pieces becomes either invisible or instead of peaces you see error sign.

While reading your post, i cant imagine this being the reason but i have no other idea.

Save all objects as a object in the popit, go to another crater and place them down there and try ahain. Maybe that could work. Sounds strange. I only had this when a material had to many edges.

Yep,copying the items to another crater could help .
another way to solve it is giving space between elements, if they are too close lbp can't manage them well.

Holy Moly. I am blind. This is LBPV. Try it again and tell me again. I have LBPV and still play and create there.

I said that I didn't realise it was about LBPV and not LBP3.

Maybe you need to get to another crater and recreate the scenery or save it and place it on the other crater. I still don't know what causes this in LBPV, since that game has very less bugs. I personally don't have bug experiences anymore in LBPV.

And if it doesn't help, try to recreate it and find the problem by yourself, if the answers here don't help.

But how many stickers do you have? Is there a glitched object? Are the sackbots from a glitch? Do you play on a older version?

I am on LBP3 on PS4, There were 23 stickers, letters of a title, so cut out on material and obviously close together. I see now that the answer would be to do that and take the photo or screen shot or just do that as a scene with nothing else in it. I must say I am not finding LBP3 to be consistant, what works one minute doesn't the next , or what works in one level, (or doesn't ) is completely different in another.
