Hey guys! I saw this thread over at LBN and I thought I'd bring it over here. So what do you guys think? Is Lbp3 dying or still hanging in there?

A lot of people act negative about "community dead blaghh" but it's still doing pretty well in actuality. The size has shrunken and some of the "elite" creators aren't around anymore, but I'm find with that. The smaller dynamic of the community works in favor of the game itself since it means everyone is more closely-knit (pun entirely intended). Great levels are still being published and are more likely to get attention nowadays.

I agree, it still has a decently-sized community, even if it isn't as big as the other LBP games were .

A rule of thumb with most video game communities is to just ignore the claims that something is "dead."  People will always call games dead, it's just what the internet does.  I remember people in late LBP1 and 2 saying the series is dead, and the same applies to 3.  Even spinoff titles like LBPV still have a sizable online community on them.

I left this game, because eventually Sumo Digital started not to care about customers, especially their bug fixes requests. Yes and I'm into that group of ignored people, who kept posting their complaints. But, don't get me wrong! I had a hope that Sumo would fix this game about year later since release day and they were close! They have fixed bunch of those game breaking bugs. Multiplayer is still bad, but used to be even worse and DLC issues are almost fixed. However, when I've seen some strange behaviors of the developers in Twitter (not caring about players, huge amount of people being deleted from following), they've done it. They ruined my respect to them. They prefer releasing DLC in a buggy game rather than fixing it. And yes, I know some bugs are not easy to address. ex. Dynamic thermo issues, but for example multiplayer instability can be easily describable (ex. diverging when character is being changed because when player joins it doesn't transfer all characters data, but the only one who is programmed to like in LBP2 (read: sackboy) )
and was already reported many times and still is not fixed. They had lots of opportunities when they released patches. Those wouldn't just focus on adding DLC stuff or tiny bug fixes, but the ones that break the game the most. I heard they are working on patch that will enhance the multiplayer even more but I don't know.. It's too quiet for now. But I don't much care anymore. I'm focusing more on getting a PS4 or at least having PS4 shared with my friend and also getting Dreams. Media Molecule seems to be the best at those type of games.

I understand your complaints, but I feel they're somewhat unjustified.  For example, Tarsier Studies does most of the DLC creation and like any game development team, it's split into groups.  A back-end maintenance guy can't do the job of a level designer, for example.  Their DLC releases don't say anything about their efforts elsewhere because they're ultimately two completely unrelated things.  LBP3 didn't sell as well as the other two games anyway, so if they don't make enough money, they can't afford to continue updating the game at all.

A lot of the community has been pretty nasty to them, too, so you can't really blame them for actions involving the community.  They interact when they can, but when they know they'll just get (pooped) on for practically anything they do, it's understandable to be somewhat scarce in that department.  Yes, they screwed up the release, but the fact that they update the game at all should be a sign of the fact that they care.  They could have just ignored the game and left it broken.  Companies make the bulk of their money through initial release sales, so if they didn't care about the game or community, they could just take the money and run.  Every update comes with bug fixes in an effort to please the community.

I can't say I agree with the multiplayer complaints (aside from the character switching one, which is admittedly cumbersome).  I use multiplayer frequent, and although it can take a couple attempts to join someone, it's usually smooth sailing from there.  I'm not trying to change your opinion or anything, but I encourage you to look at the game and Sumo with a more open mind.  I think the community as a whole would be better if people didn't view Sumo as the devil incarnate into a video game company.

LBP3 is still alive and even if there were only 100 active users it wouldn't be dead. I often hear, that the Vita is dead, but hell no, it is not. It is just, what some guys said and many guys just take that opinions.

LBP Vita doesn't have much good creators anymore, but it is still alive and LBP3 is alive too.

I think LBP3 is still alive ,but there's not amount of people like used to be in LBP2. Around 100-200 players for sure

In LBP Vita there are 50-100 players, who are online at the moment.
In LBP3 there are more.

My opinion is that I'd prefer only about 50 Elite players in the community than a million newbies.
Everyone's just getting to meet eachother and I think that's one of LBP's biggest strenghts.

Are you sure? LBP2 is majorly lacking in community and LBP3 is a lot more stable than people give it credit for.  LBP2 isn't without it's quirks either, you know.

That's true the community is definitely lacking and levels are so much more fun on LBP3. It's just that not being able to connect with friends/players and the long loading times(which you can't cancel in LBP3), completely ruined it for me .

EDIT: Actually, on second thought, I think I'll stay on lbp3 xD. The reason being that diving in on lbp2, well.... wasn't exactly the best experience LOL

Initial connection to multiplayer can be a hassle, but once you get connected with another person, LBP3 is generally pretty smooth and steady unless it's a super complex level.  Still, I agree that it would be nice if connecting was easier.  An update is set to release tomorrow that will reduce load times, so hopefully that will help you!
