LittleBigPlanet 3 Music Sequencer

Hey everyone,

I want to recreate some Janet Jackson songs in LittleBigPlanet 3, but somehow I can't make a full song on the music sequencer because you can't make the whole song with one block per instrument, even when you stretch out the instrument block to the maximum. When you use multiple instrument blocks there's a short break between 2 blocks.
I can't read music either, but I use Synthesia to see where to place the notes on the keyboard/piano editor.

I was hoping someone would want to team up with me to help me out, or to send me a detailed tutorial on
all of the possibilities the music sequencer has, and how to make full songs with it.
I'd rather have a detailed tutorial on how to make full songs so I can make them myself, but help is appreciated too.

With Kind Regards,
Selina

Hi Selina,

the music sequencer for sure isn't comparable with a professional music software, but if you know how to use it then you can do astonishing things with it! Usually the songs in lbp are built with multiple instrument blocks, I'm using a let me call it "one block unit" (smallest block) for a four-four time music and a "one and a half block unit" for a waltz-time music. If necessary sometimes I use longer units (f.e. two block units if I have notes with a legato mark which would be interrupted by using smaller units), but if possible I avoid to use longer blocks, cause I have the experience that the longer one block the more danger that the notes that you give in show a strange behavior!)
If you're listening to lbp musicsequencers then you can be sure that most of them have used small blocks and I never  noticed any small breaks between two blocks. At least no breaks that are noticable for our ears. Even if you have a rather slow music. In Lbp2 (LBP3 uses the same musicsequencer as LBP2) there has been a time when musicians have done videos, where you could watch the music sequencer in action, here's an example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ie62EUpIx4&list=PLPO1PMrkPl1amSckd4hKn7aAn02j_fU6c&index=1http://

as you see, the creator uses small blocks, but there are no noticable breaks between the blocks, at least no unintended ones.

Are you playing on PS4? If so then we could meet on PSN and then I could have a look on you musicsequencer trials or you could send me the musicsequencer and I can have a look on it! If so then send me a friendrequest on PSN!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Thanks for replying to my message.
I play the LittleBigPlanet games on the PS3, I do not have a PS4.
I've noticed the same about long instrument blocks, they start acting weird when you use many notes in 1 block.
I'm going to give the music sequencer another try, but I think I'm going to need some help in game too.
I also noticed the fact that not all the instruments used in songs are available in LittleBigPlanet 2 or 3.
For example the flute, the french horn, voice oohs, and many others.
I am going to give the music sequencer another try later today.
If there is any way you could help me out further I would really appreciate it.

With Kind Regards,
Selina

Hi Selina,

in LBP2 days you needed LBP2 and the dlc move-pack to get all the instruments. I'm not sure anymore whether LBP3 did contain all those instuments and additional the specific LBP3 instruments! Til now I havent got any flutes, only the clarinet, the trumpets and the the bassoon. Flutes would be great!
I will try to help you as good as possible, maybe I cold post some info here or do a little tutorial!
Many greetings, Jürgen^^

HI Selina,

hahaha, I've been on youtube and quite accidentally my fingers gave in "Janet Jackson"...and you probably won't believe it, but... I found a song called..."Black Cat"!
Btw a cool song!
I've sent you my e-mail address in return, though I have to warn you that I'm checking my e-mails not rather regularly!
I've already started to plan a little musicsequencer tutorial, ...I should have done this already a long time before!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Hi Selina,

rebuilding songs is much more time consuming than composing originals! Ecept you find chords or sheets or notes to a song in the web! When I decide to do a request or not, I first search the web for material, f.e. on
www.songsterr.com If you find a song there, then you often have the notes of different instruments which makes rebuilding the song easy! Only thing is that the notes are in guitar notation, but there is software in the web to help you to transfer this in piano notation, which is used in the musicsequencer.
If there are no notes in the web, then I'm listening to the song, analyzing whether there are difficult parts in it! Such as changing speed or changing measures.
And then I try to identify the notes step by step! But my newest trick is to record a music video of the song and then import it to my video editing software so that I can hear it in low speed This makes identifying the notes more easy!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^
