LBP Load Time Test

I've been hearing from different people that their version of LBP3 seem to have a serious Loading Issue (aka, being stuck in a pretty long load). I decided to test LBP3 on PS4. sadly, I cannot playtest it on PS3 since, I no longer own one.

before I begin, I'm going to show you the Console and what version of LBP3 I'm using.

LBP3 v.1.8 US Digital Edition
Platform: PS4
Software: 2.55
Hard Drive: Stock HDD
PS4 Model: CUH-1115A

level used:

Vile Anchorage: https://lbp.me/v/tj4740/topreviews?p=1&l=12

Traffic Panic: http://lbp2.me/v/qts3ssd/topreviews?p=1&l=12

Volcanik Temple: https://lbp.me/v/qwnvkkr/topreviews?p=1&l=12

PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (original): https://lbp.me/v/5f5nzj/topreviews?p=1&l=12

PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (remastered): https://lbp.me/v/qw0t0mg/trailer?p=1&l=12

AL2009man's Race Level: https://lbp.me/v/qeyxxy/activity

The Attack of the Pelegosto: https://lbp.me/v/53ctc1/activity

keep in mind that levels can last longer than my test result due to level size.

Bootup and Skipping Introduction Cutscene (without Internet): 29 seconds
Bootup and Skipping Introduction Cutscene (with Internet): 48 seconds

LBP3's Story Mode:

I'm going to test each book's Hub Area. (expect for Prolong)

Manglewood Swamp: 31 seconds
Ziggerat Grand Hall: 27 seconds
Bunkum Laoon: 22 seconds

seems like LBP3's story mode seem to be quite a average of 30 seconds to load for me.

Community Levels:

opening a LBP1 Level ("Vile Anchorage" level): 22 seconds
opening a LBP2 Level ("Traffic Panic" level) : 30 seconds
Opening a LBP3 Level ("Volcanik Temple" level): 24 seconds

but, Regular Community Levels seeem to have a slight decreased.

playing my levels:

LBP1: AL2009man's Race Level: 18 seconds
LBP2: The Attack of the Pelegosto: 19 seconds
LBP3: PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (remastered): 12-15 seconds

I choosen "The Attack of the Pelegosto" because, it suffers from a really long loading section in LBP2. (the last time I tested was back in 2011, I dunno if that changed in the current patch of LBP2). in LBP3, the loading section seems to have a massive decreased. (at least in the PS4 Version)

In the Moon, I'm currently working on 2 level. (one that is recently finished and published, while another is basically a small test). first, I'm going to use the the unfinished build of my level as my stress test. it uses dynamic thermometer.

I'm going to copy-paste this from LBP Wikia:

"The Dynamic Thermometer when enabled causes a level to dynamically load objects inside a loading zone (dynamic loading in this case is called streaming). Most games use streaming to reduce the amount of random access memory or RAM used allowing worlds to fit inside limited RAM."

if your level having that kind of problem in terms of framerate/overheating, I recommend turning this thing on. but does it increase loading speed?

I also have a finished level that I haven't officially published. (yet) and I'm going to stress test it without Dymatic Thermometer. It's a really small level, pretty different from much bigger levels.
Since I'm testing this on PS4, the test might be different if you're going to do it on the PS3 Version.

The Moon:

Creating a new, Emply Level: 5 seconds
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 2 seconds
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 2 seconds

Level no. 1 ("PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (remastered)") (uses Dymatic Thermometer)
Opening a Exisiting Level: 20 seconds
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 12 seconds
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 13 seconds

Level no. 2 (finished level, smaller than the first one, doesn't use Dymatic Thermometer)
Opening a Exisiting Level: 06 seconds
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 02 seconds
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 04 seconds

last test: this time, I'm going to copy one of my LBP1/LBP2 levels into Create Mode to see if that actually improves the loading time via create mode.

however, there's a rule to this.

1. When I copied a level the first time, loading it up for the first time might capture a slight temporarly delayed. I'm going to, well, obviously test it after the first load.
2. On LBP2 levels, I'm going to turn on Dymatic Thermo to see the difference.
3. I'll won't do any changes to those levels.

I'm only going to test 1 level in LBP1, then 2 levels in LBP2.

LBP1:

Opening "AL2009man's Race Level" Level via Create Mode: 5 seconds
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 9 seconds
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 12 seconds

LBP2:

Opening "PS Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (original)" Level via Create Mode: 3 seconds

(Regular Thermo) - 3-4 seconds (Dymatic Thermo)
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 02 seconds (Regular Thermo) - 02-03 seconds (Dymatic Thermo)
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 03 seconds (Regular Thermo) - 03-04 (Dymatic Thermo)

Opening "The Attack of the Pelegosto" Level via Create Mode: 12 seconds (Regular Thermo) - 12 seconds (Dymatic Thermo)
Play Mode (while in Create Mode): 10 seconds (Regular Thermo) - 10 seconds (Dymatic Thermo)
Play Mode (selecting via The Pod): 12 seconds (Regular Thermo) - 12 seconds (Dymatic Thermo)

remember, Going back to the Pod may take even longer depends on the level's itself.

EDIT: 7/9/2014 - LBP3 v.1.10 US Digital Edition

I'm going to revisited this test with some new stuffs, I'm going to test the Level Link.

I'm going to use the same levels I'm already benchmarked with, and to do it again. my problem is, in LBP3, there's two types of Level Link, one with the one you're familiar with in LBP2, and and another that has the same code but diffrent design and a new animation.

the rule:
1. I'm going to enter those links from My Moon (Play Mode only) and My Earth (I'd published it just for an test) for difference.
2. I'm going to use "LBP3 Level Link" since its much faster to enter than LBP2's due to animation speed.
3. I won't test LBP3's Story Mode on this one, I expects its gonna be similar to my last test. expect it load a little longer.

Community Level:

My Moon:

opening a LBP1 Level ("Vile Anchorage" level): 21 seconds
opening a LBP2 Level ("Traffic Panic" level) : 28 seconds
Opening a LBP3 Level ("Volcanik Temple" level): 18 seconds

LBP1: AL2009man's Race Level: 17 seconds
LBP2: The Attack of the Pelegosto: 20 seconds
LBP3: PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (remastered): 36 seconds (this one uses Dymatic Thermo)

(during my test- "Volcanik Temple" level, I'm been interrupted by the "hey, this level has been recently added with new content, want to use the earlier version or the newer version" thingin- this is the first time I've encounter something like this ever! I believe its something to do with republishing a level. had to do it again, thanks alot Sumo!)

My Earth:

opening a LBP1 Level ("Vile Anchorage" level): 19 seconds
opening a LBP2 Level ("Traffic Panic" level) : 30 seconds
Opening a LBP3 Level ("Volcanik Temple" level): 26 seconds (that confuse me)

LBP1: AL2009man's Race Level: 15 seconds
LBP2: The Attack of the Pelegosto: 19 seconds
LBP3: PlayStation Home: Top-Down Central Plaza Tour (remastered): 20 seconds

EXTRA:

the difference between opening to the benchmark test level I published to "My Earth" to "The Moon" is quite different. I published the benchmark level in my Earth (which is now deleted after I completed the test),  that is just nothing but level links' is actually faster to load than "The Moon" with just a simple touch of a button.

I'd say, a instant (My Earth) vs a couple of seconds (My Moon)

Since 1.10 game update actually made online multiplayer more stable then ever, I'm interested to do an much extensive benchmark via online multiplayer, but I don't feel like doing the hard work just to help the community, maybe another time.

It's a shame more people didn't thank you for your hardwork. Thank you so much for giving us some statistics, I am sure it took you a while.

I originally posted it on other Fansites, But I believe I got the most replys over at LittleBigNetwork.

basically, I forgot to repost it here.

as for the benchmark, it basically took me a hour and a half to test it completely.
