Mana Bar/Magic System Help

Hey guys, I'm trying to make a level where the player has multiple abilities that all utilize the same energy/mana pool a la Diablo or Dragon Age. I had some success using a 0.1 speed scale timer, a direction splitter, and negative and positive batteries but it's not a perfect, or even decent, system. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. If need be I can gift the system I've created so far. Thnx

Hmm I haven't played either of those games. What are those abilities? The more descriptive you are the bigger chance one of our logic junkies can help you out!

I think I know how to help you, but this is only or a sackbot. You should use a timer for the mana bar. Of course, set the buttons to the abilities. Next, tweak the mana bar timer to invert output. Put the abilities into a microchip. Now connect the mana bar timer to the microchip. The same buttons that activate the abilities should be connetcted to an or gate with the required amount of inputs. That or gate should be connceted to the start input of timer. Now you can only use the abilities while the invert output timer is still on. Hope this helped if this is what your doing. However to help further we need a more detailed description of what your creating.

I think I can help you out. Right now I'm making a level with a mana system, skill system and a level system too! And they all work since I'm in the final stage of my project. I used an analog method to make it. Contract me my psn is my name.

The system in mind is very similar to what gurren proposed; a pool of moves that use up a resource bar. Hmm, I would liken the idea to super smash bros, pressing b in certain directions yields different moves. However, the idea is that using the moves would drain a mana bar/special move bar and once the bar is empty, the moves would become null until the bar refills.

No offense meant, no offense taken. Comphermc's "Wizard: Chapter 1" level is essentially the idea I had on mind. In the level you use magic to attack foes and said attacks drain your mana pool. I'd recommend that level not only to understand the magic system I have in mind, but also because it's just good fun.
