I'm struggling to understand the purpose of this DDOS? What did it achieve besides an inconvenience?

I'm not a pro, but what I know is a DDOS attack makes a service down, but it is NOT a hack.

The last DDOS attack that made me mad was on feedly, a great rss reader (it allows me to read news without going on websites). The service was down, but your data was 100% safe (as it was DDOS).

I know it what it does haha ;D I'm just unaware of any logical movement that can lead to this? What can this person expect from doing a DDOS besides an outage?

Oh yes you're true, I didn't it well enough "this DDOS" x)

So... I have many ideas:
1. To ask money to Sony. "I stop if you pay"
2. To make Sony mad.
3. For people who did that to show what they can do
4. Microsoft paid to get Sony's servers down (favorite one )
5. Or even for Sony to improve their servers security. What if it's also possible to steal personal data...?

from the sound of their prepubescent cracking voices, they uploaded a jpeg of the isis flag through an ftp server, for giggles. now the whole playstation network is down because of security breach. All they wanted to do is show off what they can do, have no agenda, just did it because they can. the government doesn't like competition so this should be over soon.

I had problems resigning back in, but eventually got in.
If you have any problems signing in to PSN all I did was simply try to sign in, unhook my Ethernet cable when it failed, and tried again. If you use wifi then I advise you to find your own way, I rely on old fashioned ways!

I don't think this post is very helpful, but for some it should be a little!
