If I bought the same PS3 model as I have one, would be safe to move my hard disc drive into new one?

I'm asking because my PS3 is broken and there is no chance to repair it, and I though I can buy a new PS3 with the same model (CECH-2004B) and replace the hard drive.
I know that moving HDD into a older/newer model would bring damage to the PS3, so I do not want to buy different model. |
