Alright, I've begun this project a long time ago, but never finished it before due to the lack of motivation and school. However, I have the tools AND the motivation now, so let's get starteeeeeed !
The Touhou Shoot Survival series (or TSS) is originaly a bullet hell survival inspired by Touhou Project. TSS1 (https://lbp.me/v/66fvqj) and TSS2 (https://lbp.me/v/7wwdwd) follow this "survival" feel. However, I decided to change that in the never-ended TSS3. This time, it's going to be more focused in the "shoot'em up" feel. But still, the barrages stay the principal asset for this level as well as the first two The Demo of this game is also released, so you know what to expect in the future full version But remember that this is still a WIP. http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/4ebecf3898bb0280ee4404ed05355ee86eaacd9d.jpg http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/ce989771554ae2389faf92d153564ecb7fcea401.jpg http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/b4b2fc5bca136e9dc93ac8c5232b78eb205705c1.jpg Touhou Shoot Survival 3 (Demo) : https://lbp.me/v/qskzh24 |

Nice. How are you generating the bullet patterns/spell cards?

Well, it's done manually, which is pretty annoying to do x) I use emitters in a chip, which emit the bullets. Also, for more complex patterns, you can put a chip on the bullets, which edit their behavior. But still LBP2 cannot handle too much bullets at once (massive lag), so it's a bit annoying to nerf the patterns over and over :/

Yeah, from my experience there can be a maximum of 1000 objects on screen before frame rate stutter. I noticed this when making a pixel display. Since it's such a round number I believe it's an artificial limit.
Perhaps some bullet patterns could be derived algorithmically using only 1 or 2 emitters? Either by time/rotation or maybe using an angle sensor wired to a positional sequencer. http://i.imgur.com/slBKO4R.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3TwdwaQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ctKf4hb.jpg It's a shame the rotator is so slow (1500 °/s max), otherwise some really cool effects would be possible. |
