READ - This isn't a review, just a bunch of opinions bundled up together in 1 post. If you disagree, feel free to post sharing your opinions on your favorite lbp game.

I've played lbp1, lbp2, lbp3, lbp psp, the beta of lbp karting, and lbp vita. I've pretty much played all the lbp games. After finally finishing lbp vita today, I've decided it's my favorite lbp game. The story is amazing and the gameplay is fun. The power of "touch functionality" in an lbp game is incredible. I've just had a blast playing levels, especially platformers. I'm not sure why, but platformers were a lot more boring on lbp2. Maybe that's because on lbp2, I had to get up, turn my ps3 on, sit on the floor, and be limited to 1 location. LBP is on the vita, a portable handheld. Thus, I can take it to all sorts of places and play levels from the arcade, story mode, and community mode. Even with the occasion of having no internet access, I still have plenty of levels I can play from the story and arcade modes. I must say the that lbp vita has very catchy songs including "Carnivalian Chase" and "The Land of Marianne." Of course, the game isn't perfect. Lbp vita still has plenty network problems, although lbp2 was far worse. I could go on about lbp vita, but to end all this I would like to share my list of lbp games. Lbp karting doesn't count since I only played the beta version of it .

1. LBP vita - See above ^

2. LBP1 - Started the lbp formula, and it was very memorable. Less connection problems than other games.

3. LBP2 - Enhanced on the lbp formula, allowing more complex levels to be created with logic. Ruined by network issues and lag.

4. LBP3 - Amazing new features like 16 layers and a good story. It could be better than lbp2, but horrible glitches/bugs/network issues bring it down. We have to wait for them to be fixed.

5. LBP psp - Ok story and gameplay. Unfortunately, it's too limited because the psp is the weakest system. It's a good game, but the system limits it.

EDIT: I changed my mind on lbp2 and 3. Until the bugs of lbp3 are fixed, lbp2 has the upper hand.

Agreed. Except I'd place LBP2 above LBP3. There honestly isn't really a fair argument here, though. It's like comparing Windows 3.1 to Windows 8.

Exactly. I was playing lbp2 and lbp3, and both bored me. However thanks to the touch functionality in lbp vita, I have 10 times more fun than the other games.

I have only played LBP1 and 2. I tried LBP PSP and it looked like a fun, little LBP adventure but I never finished it. LBP Karting, I tried the demo and did not like it at all to be honest. I think it has to do something with how the kart controls. I heard theres only 2 layers to LBP PSP but I cant remember if thats right .

Ive never tried LBP Vita and havent tried LBP3 yet.

So far, my favorite as a standalone platformer is LBP1 for the creative level design, challenge and all the memories I had playing it. LBP2 for expansion to LBP1 creative tools.

But overall, I would say my favorite so far is LBP1.

I wonder why they didnt add this kind of touch functionality with the PS4 version of the game(LBP3).

Maybe its to make LBP Vita its own thing or make both versions of LBP3 the same or something but making DLC for this kind of Vita tools would be very useful.

Obviously, LBP Vita and Karting dont have many levels published because not many people have a Vita and Karting... I dont think a lot of people have karting either, if Im not mistaken.

So far, LBP1-3 is the big guy that steals the show with 9 million levels published so far. And some of them, most are MM Picks, are a joy to play.

Edit: Oh, wait! Durrr! The LBP2 Cross-Controller DLC!

You can use the PS Vita as a controller for LBP2 and you even use Vita tools and play Vita like levels using this DLC.

And once, the Store for LBP3 is fixed, this cross-controller DLC will still be available for PS4 users. It would be much wiser however, to make an update on cross-controller DLC so that when you buy it, you can still use the Vita as a controller/second screen or you can transfer these functions to the PS4 controller. That'd be awesome in my opinion.

LBP1 was my first LBP game. It had a very memorable story and characters. It was also pretty fun. I might come back to it someday!

Also, a advantage with portable LBP games, you can download full levels to your system. I hope that a console LBP gets that feature, because PSN goes down a lot.

After playing lbp vita even more, I've decided its not my favorite lbp game. You can go ahead and ignore my first post in this topic. There are just too many bugs with lbp vita, and its on an inferior and weaker system. I can barely connect to anyone and the game freezes a lot. Here's my modified list:

1. Lbp1
2.Lbp2
3.Lbp3/Lbp vita
4. Lbp psp

Media Molecule seems to be the best at making lbp games with its amazing lbp2 and lbp1.

I agree, but I think LBP Vita should be above 3 until sumo gets off their lazy posterior and makes the online work for LBP3

I'd like put lbp vita higher, but the bugs have gotten to a point where the game really messes up. That's why its next to lbp3. Have you had any problems with lbp vita?

The reasons why I think LBP Vita is the winner:

1. It's a portable game, yet you can do anything that's possible on the PS3 LBP's.

2. It's the first LBP that introduced the memoriser and touch logic, which allows you to create app-styled games with touch controls.

You can't do that on any other LBP.

3. Thanks to the touch controls you can navigate faster through the menu.

4. Another advantage, it's easier to control your sackperson, it's not as "slippery" as in the previous games.

5. Original story mode, created by the best level designers from the community.

6. Probably the most stable LBP you can get. Seriously, compared to the other games it didn't require so much patching. Sure it has some online problems, but with proper internet settings it's possible to play with friends without crashes if you know which levels you can play and what you are allowed to do.

Played every LBP, except LBP3.

I bet this game didn't sell all that well because it's on the Vita.

I'm not bashing it, it's just on a console that nobody likes.

Well, you can't blame Tarsier.

If we could only get more AAA titles on Vita it would be different.

It's just that Developers are more focused on the platforms that will make them more of a profit.

The Vita is not that system, and no dev's are trying to make it that system. Even SONY is making Tearaway non exclusive to the system. One of their highly rated Vita exclusives.

Lbp vita good
*portable
*more logic than LBP2
*introduced memorizer to the series
*Download levels for when you're offline
*Really smooth touch controls

LBP Vita bad
*lags
*No online create
*Other than those marvel packs, it doesn't really have unique DLC

LBP3 Good
*New characters(adds variety to how you can play)
*More layers (more room for creativity)
*Improved logic
*Dialogue in story levels (no more of that weird gibberish in story)
*Next gen LBP

LBP3 bad
*New characters cant do any powerups or controlinators
*More layers are still available in LBP2 levels, breaking the experience
*online is atrocious (I can join barely anyone)
*constant crashes(sucks when makin a level)
*Random glitches(one time i invited a friend to the moon, and it said I've been kicked from
my own game)
*The version on the stronger console is supposedly worse than the weaker console

But, It's your list man, I have no say in what you put.

I can see where your coming from with lbp3. I barely play lbp3 so I guess I don't understand the frustration as much as those who do. I really think Sumo should have tested this game before they released it. They were in such a rush to release it on the 18th of November. Why not do what MM did and make a 1-2 month delay. That way they could have perfected the game and it would get scores from 8-10. Unfortunately it's too late. Even when I get on lbp3 there are still long loading times, lag issues, and plenty of weird glitches. For example, this one time I was hovering in create mode, and then I hovered toward the ground. I could actually go inside the ground, which was weird. Another thing is that some items (especially lights), have these weird red ! marks on them in the popit. Anyways the glitches don't matter that much, its all about how fun the game is. Unfortunately the game isn't too fun, and I've barely played.

As for lbp vita, I think its a great game, but the network and lag issues really brought it down. Like WAY down. It would still be my favorite lbp game as without those issues.

LBP3's PS4 version sounds really really bad. The PS3 version has glitches for sure, but the PS4 version has even more according to users.

Also, since were making lists of our top LBP games, I will too. (Not doing LBP Vita, I don't have a vita).

1. LBP2
2. LBP1
3. LBP PSP
4. LBP3
5. LBPK

2.LBP Vita
3.LBP1
4.LBPK

@yugnar I agree with almost everything in that list. The only thing I'd change is lbp1 being over lbp3. I think lbp1 deserves some fame for starting the lbp formula and having such memorable music. I still remember the gardens theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBLieLemM_I

Yes. LBP3 and LBPK killed my family.

LBP PSP wasn't THAT bad. There was still some enjoyment to be had. LBP3 is only below it because of how unstable it is. Even more unstable then PSP.

And Karting... well... It's... Karting...

I think that the VITA version is good, really good. It's a mobile LBP.That's very cool for me.
I think that LBP2 look better than LBPVita, but that's because of the resolution of the PS Vita, which is 544p.

It's just great, its' story just amazing, happy and lovly. Oh I just wish they make a DLC for LBP3 about LBP PSP story recreated (Or community can do that )
2. LBPV
Why another Portable LBP in top 2? I can take this everywhere and it's good. Even tho PSP looked better (yes, it really looks better) I am fine with LBPVita graphics
3.LBP1
Music and story (Wilderness <3) Lawly <3
3.LBP2
Yeah only one level created and played Story mode, didnt really got into it.
4.LBP3
Played once

1.LBP3, freaking new tools and other trash, you know?
2.LBP2, As good as LBP3 but no tools.
3.LBP1, da collectar.
4.LBPPSP, it was good and fun but create mode was crap.
5.LBPKarting biggest fail in LBP history in my opinion.

I own only games that were released on the PS3 (LBP1, LBP2, LBP3 and LBP Karting)

1. LBP2 - Imo the best game in the series. Media Molecule did a great job (as always) with 'upgrading' the previous LBP. Cutscenes and real dialogues that brought new game made the story mode more cinematic which wasn't in the previous game. I can't also miss the new features such as ability to make a competitive levels (you can even go away from the players without killing them by the screen limit. Of course if you're playing Online) Easy to use pod menu, custom planets and of course a lot of stuff to mess with in Create Mode - especially Controlinator.

2.LBP3 - So far good part of the series that came out on the next gen console but also on PS3 not to force players to buy a new console just for this game which was good step forward. New characters that changed the dynamic of gameplay. The story mode is great but it could last longer. Backwards compatibility - even if there are issues with the most levels released on the previous games, it's still something that Sumo not forgot. Of course there are a lot of bugs, some features were removed or forgotten to be available for players it's still a great game.

3.LBP1 - I know - third place. But it's honorable one because it started the LBP formula. Story mode was charming, licensed and original soundtrack made the game truly nostalgic and the online mode was something great. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to play online

4.LBP Karting - It's one huge disappointment but at the same time good racing experience. The Story Mode was cool. The Characters from LBP1 and locations from LBP2 has returned but hold on... what happened to a Create Mode? Ok.. They included the logic from LBP2 but it's so limited! Even if it's first 3D LBP game. Community part of the game is no better. I deleted this game from PS3, but I purely guess that Cool Pages has not been STILL UPDATED. This is dear UFG, how your game is now dead.

1. LBP3!: New tools, characters, 13 more layers! (Seeing this I'd have expected LBP2 to have at least 4 layers ) Not as buggy atm then at launch, works fine

2. LBPV!: I don't own it, but I've played it quite a lot at my friends! Awesome use of vita functions, pretty nice graphics for an 'on-the-go' game! Nice story mode, tools from LBP2 plus a lot of tools later used in LBP3! (Such as static option and dephysicalise.)

3. LBP1: i actually didn't put LBP2 in top three! LBP1 deserves to be here, created whole LBP engine! AN ORIGINAL, AND FUN GAMEPLAY AND STORY MODE! IT ALSO HAD A VERY WELCOMING COMMUNITY, WHICH I HOWEVER FELT WAS RUINED LATER IN LBP2 AND LBP3! (Trollers, lots of crappy MK Levels copied, coarse language, generally just bad people to play such a good, happy game!)

4.LBP2: Introduced whole new gameplay, community dropped and just didn't have as many reasons for me to put in top 3!

5. LBPPSP: Nice, lacked a layer however, cool story mode (Australia! And to those who think, it's a KOALA, not a KOALA BEAR! Okay?) Definitely had the LBP1 feel. But to me, not as good as all the above! Sometimes lags, but yeah! SUCKED IN LBPK, YOU DIDN'T MAKE IT! (I feel LBPK ruined the series...)

I'd like to edit my list again.

1. LBP1(The first, and most memorable lbp for me. It set the standard for all the games coming after it, and it was a "one of a kind" game back in it's day.

2.LBP3(After all the fixes and changes to this game, it really is one of the best lbp games. If only Sumo had fixed more of the bugs earlier, this could have been a great game!)

3.LBP2(The first game to introduce logic and all sorts of lbp's main mechanics, this game set the standard for future lbp games.)

4.LBPV( I started out loving the game, but over time I noticed that there were a variety of network issues with the game, the community isn't as large, and that most people play noob levels. Aside from these, it's still a great and fun game)

5.LBP PSP( A great mini LBP1 game for the psp. It's a great game, but it just wasn't all that memorable for me.)

At the end of the day, all the lbp games(except maybe spin-offs like karting) are great, fun, and memorable games for people to play .

I mostly agree with gurren at this point~

LBP1 have been my favourite for a long time, the community levels where incredibly memorable, something I don't find myself saying a whole lot in the latter games. It's tone and charm was so good, I can't even put my finger on what exactly is causing it. I like the old lighting much better than LBP2 and 3, and the horrible gas was much more beautiful. It felt so solidly constructed, rewinding and loading levels was almost instantaneous with rare problems for me. The community also beamed with energy at this time, exploring the game together as a whole. It was new and exciting.

LBP2 during it's beta was such a hype, but after it got released it became underwhelming and sluggish. With all the new tools constructing new game types felt less mind blowing when an impressive level came out, and a simple platformer wouldn't cut it any longer. For me there was so much possibilities in it's logic that I couldn't decide on one. And ended up with none. Not to mention the effort needed to program your levels suddenly. I already mentioned that I find the aesthetics less inviting too. But even the level design felt like it lacked proper eye-candy. It was a bit too abstract, and not all that memorable. Can't tell why exactly.

LBP3 was better than I anticipated. I still don't really fancy any of the new sack persons introduced, I find them gimmicky and that they greatly hinder one's ability to express themself thought clothing rather than aid. Sackboy is still in such a heavy default, making efforts to express one as a different shape almost impossible. Not to mention the lack of female clothes for Swoop. I'd like it better if every level gave you the chance to play as either character at any time. But that would break gameplay like nothing else :S Other than that the aesthetics are super lovely I like that everything in the background moves, it feels more alive than the first game which could be a bit stationary. LBP1 was more like walking through a line of fancily stacked up toys, eternally waiting for you to interact with them. LBP3's world lived beyond this, it's world wasn't dependent on you to come rustle up it's day and re-stack for the next sackthing to come along, it was real and lived on it's creative energies~ If this change of heart is better or worse I'm not sure, I find the themes equally lovable.

I never played psp or Vita so I have no input on them :F

Karting though I have had much fun playing with my friend locally. It was epic, we had a big screen TV with surround sound and it was a beautiful experience I'll treasure forever~ It's sound design is marvellous and themes great, music varies a lot, it had a couple of fantastic tracks but the rest of the collection weighs it down a lot. Honestly LBP karting is so different from the other in the series that I can't compare them at all when it comes to themes and things, it's different altogether, and I like it~

Crash Team Racing controlled much better though Just driving around in that game felt super satisfying.

So the list goes something like this

LBP1

LBP3

LBP2

But there are very small gaps between, they are good in each their own ways which doesn't overlap the others aspects too much. In a way they're all number one

EDIT: Giving a bit more thought... There's something so very sad about LBP1 and it's stationary nature. Coming back to it after a few years is painful. It truly feels like an old toybox, it's content dead and silent eternally waiting for someone to dust it off and play with it. To rustle up it's world once more.

You just can't enjoy it like you used to

That is exactly how I feel! And I agree with the part about seeing lbp1 so dead at this point, although I'd also like to add lbp2 to that category. I had a lot of fun playing with friends back when the game was still alive, but now it's pretty much dead .

LBP1 is both my most favorite and least favorite. I like the simplicity of creating in LBP1, where your focus is more on making a good platformer and not good graphics. But at the same time, LBP2 and LBP3 have many things we'd take for granted, like the ability to hide objects, click the L stick to go into preview mode.

I think the best one would be LBP1 but with the LBP3 system.

Ik this is annoying but I think I'd like to edit my list AGAIN .

1.LBP1

2.LBP2(After going back to it, it's really beaten lbp3. There's still just too much lag and loading times in lbp3 for my liking)

3.LBPV

4.LBP3(After playing through it again, I was severely disappointed with the lag and frame rate issues(even in single player). When I went back to lbp2, I really enjoyed how the game was very fluid in single player)

5.LBP PSP

Edit, I deleted my previous post putting lbp3 at number 4. After playing through lbp3 AGAIN, I've decided that if you look past it's glitches and network issues( which are probably only on ps3) it really is the best lbp game. I'll just copy and paste what I had before.
