Hey, you guys! Are you tired of having your thermometer way up, when you have way little built? Well... Mm said to use less corners, but thats not really the probblom after years of playing lbp2, i would get so up set with the thermometer would be way up when i got way little, placed. Well what you got to do is, (only use Anti-Gravity tweakers insted of gluing things, because glue causes lag, lag causes thermometer waste, so what you got to do is unglue every thing and add anti-gravity tweakers on every thing but DO NOT ADD THEM ON OBJECTS THAT MOVE AND YOUR GAME PLAY, OR YOUR GAME PLAY WILL NOT MOVE, AND MAKE SURE YOU GOT IT TWEAKED TO 100% ON EVERY THING IN THE TWEAKING CATEGORY) but i will admit Mm was a bit right on corners but only trim the corners that are unnessisary so i hope this helps! Give me a alert if this didnt help or if it messed somthing up also ( DO NOT ADD THE ANTI GRAVITY ON YOUR LOGIC OR THIS MAY MESS UP EVERY THING BUT BACK UP YOUR LEVEL WHEN DOING THIS BUT IT SHOULDNT MESS ANYTHING UP) if i left somthing out dont be scared to share it, thx

I build all my levels like this not only to reduce lag but for the ease of moving things around! Once you start to build like this you're never going back Thanks for sharing sayer I'm sure this will help many people. If you guys are't sure of what he's talking about check out this extremely useful video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J4TX1mNY7M hope it helps! :3

Modular Building is extremely useful, if you're the kind of creator that edits sections a lot. I myself combine both modular building and base building (Glue). Dolphins, actually was the first to introduce me to Modular Building.

Anyways modular building is a must-do for every creator.
Everything is allowed in LBP. except pistons.. You only use pistons if you're lazy.

What do you mean pistons are lazy?

Another tip to keep the Thermometer down is to use a limited number of materials. The more variety of materials you have in your level, the faster it goes up. One material makes it go up insanely fast. Space Background material from the DC Comics will take up the entire bottom bubble of the Thermometer.

Oh and RainbowT-Rex, I believe pistons are more reliable than movers. I've used both in the past. One thing is for sure though; Motor Bolts are better than Rotators for spinning objects that aren't going anywhere.

Thanks for sharing these tips!

I have a tip I would like to share

Take pictures of words that use detailed fonts and put the photo on the sticker panel so it doesn't eat up the thermo

Dakrrs good point also invisable material takes no thermometer isnt that awesome!?

@dakrrs i think RTR was talking about using followers that follow tags, not movers. I think these are super useful try it out some time

Yes darks I use for all movement a follower with a key. This way I have more movement options for a piece. Motor Bolts are good for decorations. but if you're doing precise movement i suggest you to try gyroscopes. Pistons and bolts are limiting in most cases.

Totally understandable. Very limited indeed. I'm talking about when you want an object to 'float' (bob up and down), you'll use a piston so it doesn't gradually float away. This happens to an untethered object with a rotator on it.

I do wonder if it's where you place the logic onto the object. Rainbow is making me think.

Having followers? Definitely no pistons.

-This is a worthless secret message, but congrats on finding it anyway!-

Yea i use a lot of gyro scopes they are easier to use. My build bud uses wobble bolts since she used LBP1 she is a lot more comfortable with that. But I like the new way to build and that is what rainbow mentioned using followers and gyroscopes. One more thing I would like to add ont the use of pistons, with certain materials pistons wont be able to suffice if the object is too heavy, so multiple pistons are needed. While with movers I have not had this problem and followers neither. I also like using rotators, I usually use them in a sequencer of just to spin something out. >.< //

Well pistons if your going to copy that piece a lot. And I think you have enough thermo space to make a level. But in case you don't use emitters and destroyers

I think I saw a post in another forum about using rotators as anti gravity tweakers, not just that but if you grab them theyll spin place without the use of a bolt. I think I tried it once and was like cool. But never tried it again. I think I will try that again.

THeAngler2010 you mean use the pistons but emit them and destroy them or what do you mean? Sorry was kinda unclear, maybe its just me. >.<

Oh yea i did that in one of my levels I had the whole menu. Be emiitted and then "disappear!"

Pretty cool stuff. But you have to make sure that the sction is fiishes thoguh

Emit and destroy is only functional for closed structured level. 100% on grid, avoiding modular building (AG tweakers).
Why because to delete full sections you'll have to rig everything with destroyers. Imagine doing a level with a lot of rock texture, lot's of lighting and other stuff.
Emit and destroy would just be a hazel , I prefer using a level link and making sure the player dies a few times so the level link isn't locked by any chance. plus I edit my levels way to much.

A ok so you make a partial level sorta speak decor and all that good stuff and then do a level link. I think that is the best way since the load time is not as long. The only thing with the level link method is that its kinda hard to determine where to finish a level. Lie sometimes you might not be looking forward to making a second level but you see that the thermo is going off the roof. So you either emit or try to make a new level to level link it. I am with you T rex i would go the leve link route i honestly dont like the idea of having to edit everything after you put everything in emitters. Level link!

For easy modular use of decorations I place them on invisible sticker material CIRCLES. Circles have no vertices (corners) for the game to calculate (even though they look like they have about 24 edges) and are really thermo friendly. Then rather than sticker objects or material you can easily place and move the decoration.

I saw on an early MM video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wouW9v3A_Ng before LBP2) that copying an object and using it multiple times has a low therm effect since it doesn't require any more memory, which is why modular building is so effective. However, when you decorate or add logic to a piece you have copied then you have created a whole new item and that takes more thermo space.
