Hello everyone, my latest efforts are now online: "Parabolic 2: Inverted."

In this single player game you control an avatar using a controllinator so there is not a sackperson in sight. Basic moves are jump with X and navigate with the left stick. Collect points and platform around the place like usual.

I built some gravity logic that is tied to a power up. When activated, the avatar alternates between falling to the floor or the ceiling. Obstacles and navigation puzzles are built around this.

I've added more and more danger as the level progresses and be warned: checkpoints are sparingly placed. I realise this might put off casual gamers but, since the gravity powerup has a four-shot use before being recharged, I had to build in a way that players could not invert gravity in the wrong places. In other words, by the time you reach the next check point your power up should be fully depleted. I also wanted this to be challenging, it's a mature level I suppose so you have to use your brain and your reflexes throughout, none of this liberal infinite check point business!

There is one level link - the logic and materials used necessitated it - and in the final section of the level link there is a final challenge designed to keep you moving and thinking on the fly, which should keep you on your toes.

Some luscious imagery to seal the deal:

Awesome level. I missed playing a platformer with a real bot, since DC's dlc. The controll of it is really clever. Best part of the lvl was at the end, the escape. If obly all lvls could be like this Make more I want more

I really enjoyed this level. The gameplay was really original & it remained solid throughout the level. And most importantly it was fun.
Althought there were points I wished the checkpoints well closer to each other. Rather than that the gameplay was perfect. Loved the boss chase too! Nice touch!

I liked how the level looked a lot. The death material laser was impressive and looked super cool. The special effects were on point. Everything looked refined although the tile and the oil stains made the level look dirty at some points. I would have goon for a fully clean levels. Plus all the materials looked great together and the kitchen tile just broke that harmony between them. But I guess you needed a point of contrast and the tile did the work.

Overall a fantastic level, with innovative and ingenious gameplay, and good fitting visuals. Good Job.

Cheers, Bry, thanks for the comments. Yes, the tile is a contrast against the shiny, modern DC materials. I like a lot of texture in my levels

The laser was made of 3 separate pieces of sticker material, each with one type of sticker repeated along the length. There were three types of sticker and a randomiser rapidly switched between them, also firing the laser sound effect each time.

This was a pretty technical level with a lot of smoke and mirrors. For instance, the conveyer belts had no moving parts. The moving belt was sticker material with the DVI port decoration on it. Under that was invisible material that the avatar actually touched and rolled on. Finally, a long piece of sticker material sat just above all this with a tag on it. When the avatar touched the sticker material it activated a microchip on the avatar which caused the avatar to speed up or slow down in the horizontal directions. It gave a good illusion of being on a conveyer belt when actually there is no physical effect at all

Also, the rockets where made of the Toy Story space ship flipped and merged with itself. I had to use Pookachoo's nudge tool to turn it into thack so it would fit inside the hamster tubes.

As for the checkpoints, because the powerup had four shots per use I had to build the level in a way that people couldn't free roam with unused invert abilities. Each section had to be planned so the player could only progress and reach a checkpoint one way. I know they are far apart in some places but I think it adds to the challenge

Thanks for playing, good to hear your thoughts!

Really fun although I got super frustrated and quit because there are not enough check points. It's still in my queue and I will play it later

Ohh looks really nice! In the top of the queue for tonight's play session

Edit: That was awesome! When making a level with very big proportions in general it is easy to overlook some graphic stuff but even though the graphics here were simplistic they were very nice! I finished the level with a score of 0 but I finished it

(Spoiler?) The only thing that left me sad was that we couldn't kill the bad guy in the end. . Yay and heart!
