Flying carpet

I have invented a flying carpet in LBP3. I now plan to make a level around it. The problem I have is that I don't want people to use it all of the time. I want them to hop off and do side things.

Why would you hop off a flying carpet? Why wouldn't you use it if you could?, or how would I Disable it. Any suggestions?

I'm also interested in a create companion. So feel free to sign up and help make this level. It'll of course be Arabic-themed.

For how much player do you intend to program the level?
If it is only 1 player, you have some room of variety how you will program it.
If it should be for more player, then you should program the broadcast chip that emits the carpet (out of sackboy) so the carpet react only as receiver to his creator.
(I presume that you dont want to enter the controllinator but to stand free on it)
I dont know if the carpet will hear on you if you die and respawn.
If it works, than you can put some sort of calling the carpet after respawn or some killtweak so it destroys with your death.
Hope this helps.

Many set it so when the player presses (let's say circle) circle goes into a 2 port selector which goes into follow player. Then a player sensor which goes into the second port input which then doesn't go anywhere, just makes the follower disabled! Effective and simple use of logic to acquire this!
Whistle animation? Sequencer, whistle noise and an animation (if there is one)
Simple yet effective as said before! Maybe set it so that a certain trigger turns OFF the player to carpet logic, which disables the player's ability to use the carpet for a few seconds, which allows you to get off, and later go back on and use it once again! So use a timer set to COUNT DOWN, connect the control to the timer, and the timer to the NOT GATE. Then put the NOT GATE to be connected to THE MICROCHIP containing the logic! This way when the timer is empty, it will allow you to go on it, and when you hit the button, disable you and the carpets connection!

I'll have to make a concept of it and post an image later!

I can help out, just send a PSN Invite:

Also please specify your platform:
PS3 OR PS4.
I'm on PS3.

Hope this helps you and I want to see this carpet! (is it 3D movement? I could make it so )

I ended up using a controllinator for many reasons, one reason was so that you wouldn't weigh the carpet down when flying it, the other reason i used it was so you wouldn't fall off. The third reason is that you would normally sit on it and not stand on it anyway.

This is however more of a gameplay question than a logic question tough. I just want to know how to solovee the gameplay if you have the possibility to fly all of the time.

Sorry, I'm on PS4. I tried to make 3D movement but it just didn't feel right with any control scheme. Anyways, it's got a very carpet-y feel to it even if it's made out of cardboard and I wanted to make my level a little more LBP1 style, so it wouldn't fit with 3D movement anyway.

Mabye I could make some kind of charging station for the carpets, or i could make a them only work when inside some kind of magic material.

almost no reference to my tips...
So a LBP3 level with a LBP1 style? Hmm... Come on man, LBP1 (even though it was really original and cool) was just stuff put on the level floor.
You need to move on, also I usually lay down on carpets, so I 'might' break your cardboard carpet. Should change this topic to...
THE AMAZING, MAGICAL CARDBOARD!
Okay, let me think...
A material... a chip on the carpet. Chip has an impact sensor with let's say...
Include Touching
Tag: Colour and to make it more organised, 'Carpet ON'

Now hook this up to another microchip with all the carpet logic on it! This way when it reaches the impact sensor requirements, the logic for movement etc will be enabled!

For players standing on it rather than sitting in a controllinator? Make a square of sticker panel where you'd like you're sackboy to stand! (or sackgirl)
Make sure it is invisible!

Put a microchip on this block, and then put a tag on the microchip board! Set it to be something like 'Player Stand ON'
Now put a broadcast chip down to all players in CONTACT with this sticker panel. Put the logic I said earlier in my previous post to make it so sackboy can walk off IN a microchip on this broadcast chip. Now make sure there is a controllinator for these controls on this circuit board!
Set it to follow the tag when you are allowed to use the carpet! Now,don't worry, because this chip is only active when a player is touching the sticker panel, you do not need to worry about range. Just focus on the speed settings and make it till what you want!

Hope this helps, I'll draw a concept and post an image!

I'll post a pic of the carpet

Note that this isn't the level. I just tried to make some buildings to get in the mood but they turned out pretty ugly.

You can turn the controlinator to make sackboy face to the side. I think it would look a little better.

To make them get off the carpet, maybe it can be a puzzle to open a door, or a part that is under water and the carpet can't follow? The door can be too small for the carpet. Maybe it can be part of the story, where rocks fall on the carpet and trap it, so sackboy has to continue without it.

Now I've plugged a state sensor with(Has power up) to to deactivate the broadcastchip that emits the carpets from the player. I've started working on a power up that has similarities to the pumpinator but is more fun. It will be able to pull loose bricks from the wall, keep them and throw them at switches or guards. You could also pick up guards and throw them away.
