Hey everyone, i'm putting up a request for music similar to stuff you'd hear in Muramasa, Shinobi series (specifically Shinobi 3) or Legend of the Mystical Ninja (classic Japanese music with a slightly modern twist at times)

Example of what I mean:

Straight recreations or original tracks are fine, i'd really appreciate either.

Check out Nottkun's profile. He didn't made the songs you need but he did do a lot of Touhou Music which in a way, sounds slightly familiar.

Thanks, i'll check out his planet. Also I heard some cool stuff from theses two creators via Littlebigaudio channel:

Rui-zu:
Dark Green Valley
Calm Clouds
Buttlefly
Capital of Water

Po-Shin:
Cave Abyss
Burining Drunken Man
The Old Large Wood

But I cant seem to find all of them, or at least they arent posted in their own levels that I know of.

Merged

Hmm looks like I ran into another issue although it seems like a temporary one. Since you cant redownload the LBP2 move pack for LBP3 on PS4, alot of the custom sequencer tracks are currently unusable.

No problem, I was just about to post that now the move dlc instruments (and pack in general) work perfectly. Thanks for the heads up either way though! Now to just get time

Of course in that time, I found a pretty cool (and I hope easy to somewhat recreate) sega genesis theme from Gauntlet IV:

I'm really hoping to use that as the first action area theme now.

I am also looking for japan themed tunes but nothing to fancy. More like atmospheric tunes of two instruments maybe third. Something like guzheng+ erhu, flute or pipa.
Guzheng preferred.
It should give pretty chilled feeling, almost sad and emotional.

I'm thinking some Koto instruments, maybe even a gong (It's not only in China, so please don't be like 'That's Chinese! Don't be racist,&apos a Sanshin (3-stringed banjo)
Maybe even a Shamisen (Originated from China.) It's a 3-stringed Banjo-like lute btw.
Flutes, see if you can get them to sound like a bamboo flute, since that is the traditional instrument, and effects how it sounds.

Hope this helps, because I forgot one thing, percussion!
Wooden bambo claps, Kokiriko (A pair of sticks beaten together slowly and rhythmically.)

I honestly at this rate think that you people don't know any Traditional Japanese instruments and style of music (No offence)
If you listen to some it might help
If you wish to give it a modern twist, replace the percussion with a modern drum kit.

I was experimenting with the instruments but there were only few and ALL of them sound somewhat like piano to me.

merged

If i can remember correctly, there were double as much in the lbp2. Maybe i must wait untill all instruments are unlocked with new patch.

@Psmerga i merged a double post again.. please don't. not in my music section! use the edit button in the bottom right corner of your posts please.

@sana_88 I wouldn't assume that everyone here knows nothing about traditional Japanese music. but... I would say that most here probably don't

Well, I do. I done this kind of thing before, and yes, I know how to do it. I did it before on another album IRL, and I'll do it again. I'm ready for any challenge. Challenge Accepted. I'll be on LBP3 on Saturday if you need me, @Teknoman.

folk (traditional) japanese music uses pentatonic (5 tone) scales with big gaps (like the hirajoshi and in sen scales) usually from what i heard from listening to it and the square wave on a certain timbre setting makes a sweet sounding flute , you might scoff and say you don't need those type of pentatonic scales, but in order to create that exotic japanese folk mood then yes you will (of course you can "make" your own or alter them including adding a tone or two), in order for it to not be same as other songs just listen to some like sakura sakura and checkout an aiko hasegawa cd if you can, then play around with rhythms and rises and falls with melodies either your own or from other japanese folk songs, i don't really know much about it besides what i just typed... i don't listen to much japanese folk, only occasionally, i'd make some songs like that but my compositional endurance is low on most days, i play around with this type of stuff on guitar at times so technically i have experience with that type of music.

@Psmerga I was mostly kidding about the whole "not in my music section!" not mad or anything

if you listen to traditional Japanese music, you may notice how the various instruments allow each other to "breath". what I mean by that is, the individual instruments don't try to override the others and that they all work off of each other. it seems to be about balance and rhythm. to actually get it right ay be harder than some would think
