Ruined Ruins and New Junked City are the first two levels of Xander VERSUS The World: The True Story, and the only completely brand-new levels in the remake (the rest will simply be improved).

Ruined Ruins is complete and is currently playable. As a first level, it shows how much my design capabilities have matured since the god-awful beginnings of the original series. The entire loop-shaped underground passage that is this genius sub-level was mapped out meticulously on a single sheet of paper. Despite this short length, the level is surprisingly enjoyable to play and fairly challenging to ace. Just like the original series, this remake is very dark.This time, however, it takes itself more seriously. This brief stage does a very impressive job demonstrating the series' creepy, hostile, and oddly realistic new atmosphere. It is also vastly more visually detailed than you would expect from me after seeing my past works. The level actually looks like it is taking place inside a man-made underground passgeway with real material backgrounds and unusually lifelike special effects. The background music is a spot-on remix of Chozo Ruins from Metroid Prime as well.

This level alone is a fantastic and promising introduction to the upcoming remastered series. New Junked City is still a work in progress. It will be essentially a good version of the craptastic Part 2 from the early stages of the original series' development and will have New Junk City as its background music.
